fuel gauge bars! what do they mean?

Featured Replies

The handbook is pretty useless - do the 'cheeses'/bars signify equal proportions, or do they equal the decreasing volume of each cheese? The gauge I can see is designed, but its a bit ambiguous....

thanks

That's not cheese - it's a glass full of Guinness isn't it ?

Full tank = full glass, almost empty tank = time for another round.

No idea about the correlation of bars to pints (gallons/litres) I just fill it when the bong goes off. :giggle:

they seem failry uniform to me, when the bars are about halfway down (including the little reserve bit) it is about half a tank left,

the range left is reasonably accurate, although i do often manage 80-90 miles before the top bar goes after filling up

i have even got down to ZERO range a few time and gone anpther 10-15 mile (very slowly to make sure i got there)

When you have no bars left, fill it up. Simples :)

The triangular shape seems to be just a design thing. Mine seems to be linear, each segment using about the same amount. When it reaches the botton of the triangle and it goes into the box below it, I get a chime and the dispay says 30 or 35 miles left. then until I fill up, I get the chime and the miles left every time i start the engine.

mine is pretty basic - no temp gauges or anything. A czech just shouts from the back and prods your lumber region with a bit of 4x2

I've got no temperature gauge either. Just a warning light. I think you have to have maxidot to get a gauge. If your fuel gauge is on a taper like mine, with a seperate box at the bottom, and you don't get the warning chime, then I'd fill up as soon as possible after it gets onto that seperate box. Or even a little before. I don't usually wait until it gets right down there.
