Is this a record?

Well I've had my Furby RS for 12,000 miles now on its Michelin Premacy Pilot tyres, no track use, and they are BALD already

I thought those things were supposed to be hard wearing? Clearly not very hard wearing then... and its not like I do burn outs or anything.

Also, I need to know if the Furby comes with locking nuts, and if it does, where it the unlocking thingy, if there is one?

12,000 miles? OUCH!

The toolkit in the boot with the spare wheel had a small metal bolt that goes between the wheel nut and the (???) removal tool (It must be Sunday I can't think of the name!!!).

Yup, locking nuts fitted, key is in the plastic tool holder in the spare wheel.

Thanks chaps.

Any tyres in particular that you would recommend?

Maybe those North Yorkshire roads have very abrasive surfaces?

I've been happy with my Uniroyal RainSport tyres, also seem to be wearing quite well.

Also alot less aquaplaning in the recent wet weather.

I'm only at 5000 miles so I've not needed to change them yet.

I will be specifying Continental SportContact2's when mine need changing - they're standard from the factory on latest spec Furby vRSs in place of the Michelins.

Mine are EXACTLY the same. Im now approaching 14k miles and ive got to change them ASAP. We must have a similar driving style as i dont wheel spin and ive never done a track day either. The wear on mine is the same all over is yours? Ive been looking at some Kumho's and have been quoted

lol on my 172 a set of gsd 3's lasted slightly over 6 k :( thats with no trackdays

I test drove a Furby vRS on Michelins and it was awful, skittish, noisy, harsh and no grip in the wet. I made sure when mine arrved I had the Contis fitted and they're good. I had to play around with the pressures because I found the listed pressures to be too high. I've now done 2200 miles and I've settled on 2.1 bar front and 2.05 bar rear at the moment.

Mine lasted about 18,000 with a trackday. Now on a set of Firestones and they are going ok.

I don't think that's the case. My facelift vRS was built after my business colleagues, but still comes with the Michelins over his Continentals.

If the wear's even, I reckon it's probably down to driving style. I've done 11K on a set of Primacys and I've just checked tread depth. 5mm front, 7mm rear.

Not at all, they lubricate some of them with longlife oil ;)

If you wear the rubber out that quick just get cheap remoulds.

My Fabia vRS is now just over a fortnight old and came with Michelins not Continentals. I had these in 205/55/R16 on my 200SX and found them to be fairly decent on that car, maybe they are more suited to RWD?

As for a FWD tyre recommendation, when mine go I am getting Goodyear Eagle Venturas. I had these a few years back on a similarly powerful car (tuned 309 GTI) and found them to be fantastic - great in the dry, and absolutely stunning in the wet, best wet tyres I have ever had or ever seen. I could drive that car 95% as hard in the wet as I could in the dry and they were very resistant to understeer, and they also lasted about 12 or 14k even with me driving like a tool.

As for being dismayed at 12k tyre death, try driving a 200SX - I have been through a set of rear tyres in 6k a few times, and that was regular road driving... :D

Remoulds? :thumbdwn:

I wouldn't have remoulds anywhere near my car, in my own humble opinion.

Me neither, tyres are the only thing that puts your car in contact with the ground, never scrimp on them!

Well, unless you're Jason

:P

That's a good point! Could Jason have a remoulded roof?!? :sofahide:

My michellins lasted 15.6K miles. Includes 2 trackdays and a handling day. Now on a set of Falkern 451s. Big improvement.
