Octavia 2.0t fsi vrs as a tow car

Featured Replies

Hi, i need some advice on the suitability of a Octavia 2.0T FSI RVS as a tow car which i am thinking of purchasing. It will do everything else i require of a car, and if the write ups are to be believed will be entertaining when driven quickly. i know the 2.0 VRS oil burner (diesel) would be the obvious choice but i am not keen on the cost of a clutch and duel mass fly wheel replacement, which appear to fail regularly when used for towing on all makes of cars. If any one tows with one i would really appreciate your views. My caravan is well within the towing limits of the VRS at approx 80% of the kerb weight

I think it would make a superb tow car personally. :)

First gear a bit high?

I have an 09 fsi vrs hatch and have towed my caravan with no problems at all. With 2 adults, 2 teenage kids, a large dog and all the associated junk we take on holiday!

Our van is 945kg unladen. Average loading is thought to be 250kg, but I think that is conservative.

I would have no problems recommending the octy vrs as a tow car. the genuine Skoda towbar is a lot of money (I was quoted £800+!) but I had a witter swan neck (removable) bar fitted with twin electrics for £425.

My mate tows his rally car round Europe with his VRS Petrol Estate. Good as gold apparently. Got to be 1400kg so you'll be fine

I wouldn't

Towing my ex-bitch i mean ex-wife around in the passenger seat knackered my clutch :p
