Ebay FMIC kits - 5 to choose from?

Featured Replies

OK while searching on ebay there now seem to be 5 kits that use the route down the right of the block, but what differences are likely with the sizes of the core and the pipe diameters? The last one seems to be similar sizes to the Forge one but single pass. SO which ones do you guys think seem the best? :S

I would say the 3rd option you listed, Looks just like the one I used for mine. I can't see to well though because im on the mobile phone! I'll take a look later for you mate. I've used the 2.25 diameter pipe and I know a few others also have (oggy etc), I think if you went the 3 inch pipe then you might end up with bag loads of lag!

I'm assuming that you already know that you will have to also buy another 90 degree pipe and the section with the map sensor in it.

Yes I used the 2.25 dia pipe & the IC I used Is 500mmx140mmx65mm & they work perfectly for the performance of my car. http://briskoda.net/forums/topic/126379-another-l200-fmic-fitted/page__p__1586056__fromsearch__1entry1586056 .

The thing Is, I don't know with these kits, If you need to modify the piping for any breather hoses or even the MAP sensor.

I was told, If true or not, that too large pipe bore for the IC could cause damage to the turbo by making It spin too fast????? I know nothing, so I could have been subjected to some bullsh!t with that comment :D

With the size IC I used, same as those In link 3&4 you posted, It fits near perfectly In the bottom grill upto the crash bar getting a good flow of air over the entire of the IC & Its rated good enough for 350bhp, which will never happen. With the larger IC In the last link, alot of the surface area will be covered by the crash bar/back of the bumper, thats unless you do the bumper mod, plus It has a bigger capacity to fill.

Alot have considered one of these kits that route past the battery, but I haven't heard of anyone buying & fitting one. If you do there will be a few waiting eagerly to hear of the results.

The routing will be shorter than the route I used, which will certainly help with turbo lag.
