Wheel bearing replacement advice

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have got a 53 reg Fabia VRS.

Got to work today with a lot of clunking going on!!!

sounded like a big tin full of screws rattling around from the o/s wheel.

appears to be diagnosed as a wheen bearing.

Got car home from work, 90 miles away on back of low loader... booooooooo!!!!!

What next...? appears that the bearing cannot be changed DIY is that true?

I know you can get just the bearings, but can also get the whole hub... what is better ?

Whats the expected time to do this job and what else can anyone recommend.

my nearest garage is about 15 -20 miles away !

I don't think it can be driven.

Please can I have some suggestions.

I live in Romford, Havering

Cheers

Complete hub and bearing is the best way. Mighty force needed to remove bearing from hub, and press new one in. About 1 hour to replace hub.

Yeah, garage job, abs sensor is built into it, so can be damaged if ill fitted
