You turned off your airbag?

Are you joking?? :S

What I guess he means is that the passanger front airbag is switched off - perfectly OK of you never carry passangers. The steering wheel one will still be activated, so in the event of depolyment no new dash is needed, just loads of other bits!

Hope you remember to turn it back on when you have passengers....

surely the pas airbag wouldnt deploy if there was nobody sittiing on the seat? the switch i'd guess is for if you're carrying a baby seat on the front pas seat!

Passenger or no passenger it deploys - trust me I've had it happen. :'(

What would the legal position be in the Uk if the vehicle was involved in a crash and the airbag was turned off by the owner but a passenger was in the vehicle and the passenger suffered extensive injuries that would have been avoided with the airbag?

Can the driver be sued and would those costs way outweigh the insurance costs related to the airbag related repair?

Also air bags have a time limit on them. How many people will bother to change them

when the time comes?

Remember if your drivers airbag has been deployed, your seat belts may also need to be changed.

Am I right in thinking that your car is a taxi, Michelle. If so there may be implications on "duty of care" if you have intentionaly disabled the passenger air bag.

Also, a cars a car, a persons life is a persons life. I work with the emergency services, I,ve seen the difference airbags can make.

yes a bit daft that as there is the chance of someone getting hurt , 10 years on airbags then they are recommended to be changed, i have never been asked to replace any due to age and be honest it could cost well over £2000 if you are doing the curtain airbags and seat ones too so who is going to do it??
