basicly i want more out of my vrs i like the car but im really disapointed in the power , iv been reading about the ko3s upgrade can anyone tell a bit about this and weather its worth doing , some say the gains ae not enough but some say it is but i need to no more . thanks.

I thought all vRS came with KO3s??

All the MK1 vRS's come with the K03s as standard. You might be looking at the 150bhp version of the 1.8t engine, not the 180 version. This had the standard K03 non-s turbo. The next turbo upgrade is the K04, which is used in the Leon cupra R and 225bhp tt.

i feel the same mate ...av fitted the forge tip .forge dv...cold air induction...av you had a remap yet....with a map you can get your 180 to 215 or 220bhp

but before i get mine done am fitting a sports cat and s/s exhaust so il get better bhp.....av had my vrs for neally a month and it feels slow but i no when i get the remap il think other wise......av bin told the ko3s are a good turbo...by changing to the ko4 doesnt meen you will notice the power more as you would need to get a remap any way

its not just a remap you need if you go with the k04 upgrade !!!!!! and once done you will notice a huge difference 260bhp

remp on a standard car will not get you 220 bhp simple more like 210bhp

what else have you done to the car question for op?????

and what are you comparing it to???

oh ok thanks i didnt know that so its the ko4 upgrade i need . do you need any ecu mods too put in a ko4 or will it go straight on , obviously apart from remaping because i already have intercooler and cat back exhaust , forge dv .

uprated injectors

3inch maf

new exhaust down pipe

custom map

4 bar fpr

uprated clutch kit if you havent done that already...

so not straight forward

Add to this, uprated fuel pump as per Audi S3 et al, and you say you've a cat back exhaust, a 3" downpipe and hi-flow sports cat will reduce back pressure and make the most of any set up

All 1.8T engines after 2002 IIRC have the KO3s

yea thats what I was lead to believe.

Depending on what you want mate, Going K04 is kind of a dead end and for the money, costs a hell of a lot. Do some searching and you'll see lots on this.

my car is on a ' Y ' plate so it doesnt have the KO3s turbo ? i thought all Octavia VRS had the KO3s turbo

nick yours does he is refering to all 1.8t carsi think as all vrs have k03s.

oh i see i thought that too .

yea it was only the norm 1.8Ts that had the k03 the vRS had the K03s from new the 1.8t with less than 180bhp pre 2002 were fitted with the k03 then moved on to the K03s and just de tuned.
