Suspensiono Questions

Featured Replies

My little jaunt this morning has confirmed my thoughts that my RS:

1) rolls too much

2) bounces too much on broken surfaces

3) floats when driving quicky over dips/crests

I don't really want to spoil the ride so what is the best solution for these issues.

I think the bouncy response over broekn surface is due to the tyre pressures; I've up it to 2.2bar.

Cheers.

Adrian.

Thought you had the vRS and not the 4x4?

Take all the above add 1.5inches to the height and multiple by a factor of wobbles.

Jon is the best bet, as I think he has been through most iterations of the kit that will help you.

I'd be guessing wide of the mark as to what he would/will suggest...could be a sticky in the making I think.

Can see where your coming from on 2 and 3 but not 1. Never been in a car that rolls less:cool: Matter of opinion though.

Agree with Neil RS.

I've a 4x4 like ColinD, but I've test driven 2 vRS's and both rolled less than my late Impreza Turbo did - a car respected as 'going quite well round corners'.

Do you think you could be imagining things are worse than they are on the body roll side ?

Fab,

it's quite possible I'm imagining it; I've been also thinking may be it's the way I drive. Just changed both my lefy hand side tyres at only 13.5k miles; we have alot of round-abouts in Basingstoke.:D

Also I think the seat contributes as even though they're sports seats they're not the most supportive ones I've experienced. Best by far were those in a Renault 19 16v.

Cheers.

Adrian.

Agreed on the roll, it does doesn't it. In some respects this works in it favour as it gives it a nice dollop of roll oversteer. The tail just drifts about 1m out of line and hangs there nicely. OK, some potential cures for you (I'll go the cheap and easy to change way)

1. Getting rid of the roll - unless you want to go to the expense of new anti-roll bars, try stiffening the mounts as a first port of call. Some uprated anti-roll bar mounts (powerflex/supaflex) will help but won't make it to harsh. These can be had for about
