Skoda Octavia II 2010 6 Speed DSG Transmission

Featured Replies

Hello Skoda Lovers!

I'm in with a New Skoda Octavia II 2010 after having 2 previous Skodas from 2004 and 2005 respectively. Never had a problem!

With this new one, I have a 6 speed DSG transmission. When used in Tiptronic mode, it will make a little "bump" when it shifts automatically down from 2nd to 1st. I tested a anotjer new car from the retailer and it will not do this.

The mechanics Supervisor checked the car and admitted to feel the same I feel and we did a road test but he checked everything and it looks fine. The thing is, it is not working as designed as other Octavia's will not do the same.

I will really appreciate if somebody can guide me here to any other thread or topic in this forum in order to have more information. The Supervisor wrote an email to Skoda but they have not answer. He stated that they usually take a while to answer.

The issue with the transmission is not causing any downtime but I'm just wondering if it is a sign of some problems later.

Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Regards,

I do not have the 2010 but the 2006 model. I too have this when the car goes down into 2nd gear, especially when I am in traffic, not notciable when slowing down or accelerating when coming on or off a motorway. I have learned to live with it, the only way I have got rid of it is to drive in the city as if was stolen, it them seems to adapt to a more agressive driving technique and it goes away. Oh and the other thing is it took a while for everything to settle when I first got it, If you are not happy get them to change the DSG or the car, keep a note of all the discussions you are having with the dealer, especially if they are admitting there may be a problem, how many miles have you done?

maybe it needs to adapt still? Mine is smoother now than when I first picked it up, either that or I'm gettin used to it being an auto (12 years since my last auto). The only complaint I have with the DSG is under braking I'm still gettin used to it.

Other than that I actually do not miss a manual car.

try crawling the car across a car park, if jerks or kangaroos your in need of a replacement mechatronics unit.

Normally if they box still needs to adapt you will get slow smooth shifts rather than harsh shfits
