Coast2Coast Cars

Featured Replies

Has any one used Coast2Coast Cars based in Tregaron. They appear to be giving very good discounts at the present time. Prices appear cheaper than DtD for the Yeti by the tune of about £300. perhaps LlaniGraham has come across them??

I never trust companies that can't use proper words.

Certainly are offering a good price, but I've never heard of them.

I first heard of them a few years ago but I was just looking around. then when I was looking at Yeti I noticed their prices which were quite good but not as good as DtD by a good margin. I had another look today put my specification in and they came out very cheap. In fact I made a mistake earlier because I looked at the price of DtD scrapage and then compared so C2C are even cheaper.

Their must be something hidden I am wondering, something that I have missed.

Anyone think (or have any way of knowing?) whether this is a sign of more flexibility by Skoda in Yeti pricing - starting in February, for example.

For several weeks, DTD were the benchmark for the best Yeti deals. Then a few days ago, Broadspeed and now C2C, have bettered DTD prices by some 4% or so. Surely this marked down-step is considerably more than you would expect from an already competitive broker trimming just a little more off and sounds unsustainable unless it were also supported by some more 'give' from the manufacturer, ie Skoda

Do I remember correctly that the current Skoda no-VAT campaigns on Octavia and Fabia (was it) are due to end on 31st Jan? Is this all just a coincidence? Is there another campaign due to start on Feb 1st that might also include Yeti - or just wishful thinking on my part.

Well C2C prices on the screen are not genuine at all. I rang the broker and he umm'd and err'd and then said some of the dealers are putting conditions for lease ete and prices for fleet blar, blar then asked exactly what I wanted and the price came up as approximately £1700 more expensive. tey do not do scrapage if anyone is interested in them just strait deals.

That is a cheek allowing one to beleive that heir price was competitive. Foul of the trade description act ? It did not take him long to work out that it was mistake.

It is highly likely that Broadspeed with be awarded my order. It appears way cheaper than any other broker, even without scrapage. Tomorrow I shall contact them and start the ball rolling. I will just have to wait then to see which of the bidding dealers I shall be choosing. For me it will be interesting to see if it all comes good.

If Broadspeed are as cheap as their website suggests then they have by far the lowest priced Yetis around. I remember that Broadspeed used to charge £300 fee on top of their prices but then this was dropped. With prices that low I wonder if they have reintroduced the fee again?

Post how you get on, i'm probably going to use broadspeed as well! Looks like its only £99 if you go with the dealers offer, unless i've missed something :S

Sure.

It is ridiculous just how much money some of these dealers are making out of just selling a car. If companies like DtD can be thrashed as a company that is thrashing the dealers it makes one wonder. I feel that it has been a rip off industry for years. Years ago, we had every one practically paying full list price for all cars. Then some people started importing themselves, either on their own or through specialist brokers. The industry tried to slow the process down by illegal pressure from the manufacturers forcing EU dealers to be difficult. I imported 2 cars many years ago, massively cheaper than what one could have bought in GB. That has all but dried up now, things have improved to such an extent that we have some of the cheapest purchase prices in Europe.

Now we have a well established idea that we can bargain quite ruthlessly. Even better, we have brokers that are in fierce competition to bring us cars that have been discounted by thousands. Why pay main dealer prices at all. Why use main dealers for servicing when some specialist non franchised garages will do this expertly for far less. It must only be a matter of time before they are a thing of the past, their will be a level playing field eventually. We will all buy from brokers or until some entrepreneur bypasses the official importer and sells them really cheaply.

On a couple of threads, one recently, it was suggested going over to the factory to drive back ones own car and in the process cut out all the middle men, who are taking their slice of the cake. I wonder just how much a car really costs. Certainly at least £4000 less than what some dealers might want one to pay and that is only a start. Perhaps someone could get 5 thousand or 6 or more off a car. If I was a main dealer, I would soon start trying to change or be driven out of the market. It will be routine maintenance and repair that is what they might be left with and they will have to reduce prices for that as well because of the rising numbers of independents competing.

Hmmm, I was holding back on posting as I can also see that dealerships need to make a living but I have to confess; Broadspeeds cost for my example is just over £1000 LESS than I have secured at a dealership supposedly offering a very good deal. So yes, it does make you think.

Every one has to make a living. Every one has commitments. As a Nation, why pay well over the odds for products, then pay well over the odds to keep them going. The auto industry was given a bit of a jolt a few years ago when it was stated that main dealers did not have exclusive rights to servicing and knowledge. I think that it needs far more than a little jolt it need a huge shake up. Do we need to visit a swish marble clad showrooms with pinstriped suited sales people. Do we need to pay £80 - £100 per hour costs for works done or what ever they cost these days. Do we need a brand new car to drive around in when our car is being seen to or will and older hack do just as nicely if the overall costs and charges are down. Should service cost be cheaper if you refuse a courtesy car for instance!

The industry needs to be really market force led from sales down to servicing. How is it that it is so easy to buy a car from a dealer, via a broker, that cuts the price of a car by thousand with out scrapage, than to buy the same car with scrapage from a local dealer!
