HID Kit

Featured Replies

right folks,

This is giving me a headache what is a good HID kit to get for my dipped beam?

As i have been looking about but not really sure what to get :wonder: when its comes to what wattage and that........

can anyone help or share?

cheers

i dont know wether id bother personly tbh.

Have a read thru the many many previous posts as to the pro`s and con`s of them and see if they are what u fancy.

If so, basicly the higher the k`s the more purple the colour. Stick to 6 or 8k for dipped beam for road use, any higher it looks too chavvy and blue imo.

as far as i know i think its 5/4 K they use in the audi's and BMW's! they produce a nice bright white light with a hint of blue!

Any higher than 5000k and you're asking for a pull and wasting your money!

If you must get them 4300k is ideal (most light) and get an anti glare set!

And keep a set of halogen bulbs in the car incase VOSA/Trafpol take an interest at the roadside!emoticon-0105-wink.gif

I have checked through the old topics, I don't want pulled all the time so you reckon just under 5k would be ok.

any good places to get them & how much?

Cheers :)

See my link above buddy

In a std Fabia reflector headlight - nothing (they will scatter the beam everywhere.

If you had projectors then i would say 4300K for the brightest, whitest light.

cheers sleithykeithy just checked the link thats great buddy will order them off there ;)

having second thoughts on the 4300k maybe get the 6000k ones as i dont want any yellow in it.

Cheers

There is NO YELLOW in a 4300K bulb, they are brilliant white!

Before you waste your money however do a search on here, there are several Fabia owners who have fitted HID's to their std reflector headlights - only to remove them again because of the amount of scatter and glare they give.

I've just fitted 4.3k HIDs to my fabia vrs with normal reflector headlights and the beam pattern is spot on and my g/f who was driving in front said they're not bright at all. But they light up the road great, white road but they just look standard. Not bright blue and blinding airplanes

There made my Philips

I echo the above, and stick to the 4300k, they are not yellow at all. Pure white, with a VERY slight hint of blue/purple. 6000k will be too much.

This shows the effect of the anti-glare part of the light very well.

sleithykeithy have you got any other pics with the hids in?

has anyone fitted 6000k?

cheers

I tried this a few years ago in my old vRS.

It already had factory xenons but I wanted to try a HID kit in the main beam.

The results were brutal!! However, I did have issues with them not working from time to time.

To be honest, they were overkill & the reflector was not designed to work with a HID bulb, so it caused a LOT of light scatter. It will be the same for the non xenon dipped beam.

I took them out after a while. Was looking into a proper bi-xenon projector lamp, just befor the car got written off. But have build a pair of bi-xenon lamps for my Leon recently & hoping to fit them soon.

Some pics!

BTW, I put 6000K D2S bulbs in the dipped beam

Here is the difference.

The 6000k looks alot better in my opinion

Looks better in a factory xenon projector, but cack in a halogen reflector (too much blue & too much glare).

I`m sure mine were 6k, yet seem to be the whitest around here. Because so many different makes are about, none are the same i dont think. My mate got some 8k`s which i expected to be really blue, but were nearly the same as mine. So it`ll be hard to get exactly what ur after till they are actually fitted
