I'm defecting :(

Featured Replies

Have made the difficult and sad decision it's time for the Fav to go :(

My sister was after a new car, and dealers told her her 02 Fabia Blackline 1.4 mpi 8v would be worth less than £2k as a trade in, so it seemed to make sense to take mine in for scrappage, then I could get the Fabia. It avoids having to get it through the upcoming MOT which would probably mean some patching up based on the level of rust found at last MOT. Iit seemed like a good choice at the time :|

Have got a bit of a spares stash (will have to go through it all and make a list) and will try get as much as I can off before it goes. Hopefully I can help some others live on :)

:) At least you will still be a Skoda owner! Perhaps you could swap your O/S brake caliper with Nelly!

:giggle:

how come since i mentioned my secret spares stash, suddenly everybody has a stash??

:giggle: I have 3 sheds in my back garden and a large unit at work full of Skoda spares....but they are almost all for Estelles/Rapids.

One extra vowel and that thread title could take on a whole new meaning

And we definately wouldn't want to be seeing any pictures in the thread then either

Sorry to hear about this. It is a similar position to what I am in now. We will be wanting a newer car at some point... so do I do it now or wait...

I'm sure you'll enjoy the new car at least.

An extra vowel lol. I suppose that would change the meaning of the sad smiley too.

Before I got my hands on it it was destined for the scrap yard. I asked if I could take it off their hands, was worried what I was letting myself in for back then but it's been an amazing first car for 3 whole years. With a bit of maintenance it's never let me down, even on plenty of 220 mile journeys.

Have tested the Fabia a little and it feels rather less powerful in comparison to the Fav estate which I am surprised at. I suppose this is due to increased weight, and goodies like power steering, but hope a good service makes it feel a little more peppy. I think it probably needs the throttle body alignment gizmo thing re-setting on it too.

The Fabia will probably teach me a big lesson and have loads of expensive (read VW) things failing on it

ah just the man.... which of the old school rear engined jobbies was it that had 4 pot calipers on the front?? i seem to remember seeing a picture of a front hub/bearing assembly which looks almost identical to the felicia ones except the caliper mounting lugs are shorter and it has a 4 piston brake caliper??

Tom, according to the info I've got here, any Estelle 130 (inc Rapids) will certainly have 4-pot calipers.

NOOOOO!!!

Mines under covers at the moment.

Still might be worth seeing what parts you have.

:) Estelle 130, Rapid 120, 130, 135 and 136 all had 4 pot calipers, though the hubs and front suspension are nothing like the Felicia.

how strange?? i'm sure i've seen a pic of a felicia with 4 pots from a rapid or whatever knocking about somewhere, and it was all oe parts too

The hubs being different may not mean that the 4pot caliper brackets don't fit both (with maybe a change of discs to a different depth bell?)
