People with 1.2 HTP

Featured Replies

Hey Folks.

Just wanting people's opinion on the 1.2 HTP in the MK1 fabia. Is it the same as in the MK2 (or at least very similar)?

I have experienced this engine in a MK2 and really liked it.

Just wanting some real world opinions really. I rarely have more than 2 or 3 people in the car and only cover around 12,000 p/a.

I'm not after anything fast nor do I care for it so no suggestions of a vRS or the likes and I have now been converted to petrol (not an invitation for a petrol v diesel debate either!) and the 1.2 seems to tick all my boxes.

I believe it takes the Fabia into group 2 insurance too correct?

Thanks

Phil

The wife ran a Mk1 fabia Silverline estate for 5 years . It had a 1.2, 3 pot engine, 64bhp and it was a dream to drive. Endless trips to north wales from Harrogate no problems at all, ok a little slow to speed but will sit with the big boys all day. She now has the Mk2 Blueline (saw you on the M62, remember?? ) which is also a 1.2 but I think it has 7 more bhp.

Best way to drive it is to give it some stick, the engine loves it

Hope that helps.......Auric

Ah yes. Didn't recognise you with the new name there!

Yes the newer one has 70 bhp.

What was the old one like in terms of smoothness of the engine and quietness (I know they have a raspy sound when revved but I am referring to tickover kind of speeds). Just trying to grasp whether the old engine is as refined as the new one.

Thanks

just sounded like any other petrol engine really, had it's own sound when revving. I would imagine the new 1.2 engine would be more refined but I'd have a 1.2 petrol anyday
