just bought an octavia vrs - 3yrs old (51 reg) - silver - unmodified

blown away by the power so far - god the torque!!

(I read the whole 173 lbft is deliver across the range 1950-5000rpm - I know how that feels now)

and I love the rarity - I live in chippenham (wilts) a yellow one lives round the corner, but have onlyever seen one other in town - girlfriend has a 318 - I keep telling her they are more common than mondeos.

lots of questions - dont know where to start

-1- drivers mat is shot - can I buy just this or do I need to get a whole set (suppose I could ring local dealer and ask)

-2- how long do the front tyres last with normal (enthusiastic driving), and how much will they cost-

-3- dealer told me ideally you let it idle for 2 mins once you park before switching off - to let oil drain back into the turbo to help it cool down - (oe something like that!) totally true?

I don't think you need to do this, I think there is an auxilairy water pump which keeps your coolant flowing round the engine + turbo for about 10 mins after you have parked up.

yes - I read somewhere that a gallon of water goes down each sleeve. (think Ive read nearly every word thats been written about this car over the last couple of years - bordering on an obsession) 7 replies in little over an hour!!! - thanks for all the comments guys.

before i give it some i always wait until i've done at least 8-10 miles,due no oil temp gauge,YET!!!!

i always let my car tick over for at least 1 minute,longer if been having fun!!!

change the stereo,

i always run mine on Optimax,due to re-map.

tyres:- am using Bridgestone SO3's now,think i'm going to get about 10K from the front.

and once/if you start to mod it its a slippery slope.
