Help with Fabia locking itself

Featured Replies

Hy everyone,

I got a Skoda Fabia of 2003 (not the estate version, the normal one). It has a remote with two buttons for locking/unlocking the doors, but it seems that quite often the remote is doing some crazy things: it locks the car itself (and I can hardly unlock, only after pressing unlock button a number of times, some cases I had to press lock again to remove dead-lock and be able to unlock the car). It happens at different times, some time when I remove the key from the ignition, other times when I try to open the door. I observated that the red led on the key is flashing by its own after using the remote for a certain amount of time (maybe the button on the fob is too sensible and gets pressed just by looking at it ) and the fob seems to eat battery (one battery I placed new in the remote fob was exhausted in 2 months...). Seems that the car is locking and removing after dead-lock, locking again and so on. A few times after unlocking the car locked at once (without the time to open the door), practically the button on the door got up and less than a second got down again. Any one has a idea on what could be the problem and if it is possible to fix it without going to dealer?

Another problem I have is with the boot, which I can open only from the lever close to the drivers seat. It either is not unlocked by central locking or the button under the plate does not operate the engine to make it open. Any ideas for this one?

Thank you,

Rumburak

Remote button is sticking.

I'd say so, or battery dying perhaps. If you have two keys, try using the other one!

could also be curtosy unit:)

I think you might be right about the remote button sticking, since I just tried and placed the remote on the table and the damn thing continue to light up the red light... And the car is nowhere around. As soon I take the remote in the hand, without even touching the button side but touching only the sides, it lights up the led again, so probably that damn contact inside is very gone.

Anyone has an idea of the code I should look for to get a new one from ebay? The current remote fob has 2 buttons and the part number is 008444 0678 5FA 008548

If possible I would like to change it and have the three buttons foldable key (no problem in moving the transceiver to the new one, but have no idea of the code for the remote fob that I have to search for).

Thanks a lot,

Rumburak.

Anyone know the code for the remote fob I should get? On mine the writings are us above, and Hela 434Mhz. I don't know the VW part number, or eventually the part number for the remote fob with 3 buttons.

Thanks a lot,

Rumburak.

Skoda reprogrammed mine for free, (including spare key, at a different time) only took about 5 minutes.

Welel the problem is that mine remote seems to be broken. It continue to send signals even when I don't press any button on it... And eats battery in about 1 month and half... So I have to change it, but I have no part number on it, in order to get a new one.

Hello,

I suggest you take your log book and key fob to Skoda Dealer to pinpoint your car on their computer which in turn will give codes required.

Good luck rumburak

I already have all the codes for programming the new key (the plastic tab that contains the immo code and the SKC code), just not sure wich remote part number should I get. I have the solid key (not the flip one) and have no part number anywhere on it. It is the classic 2 button one, written HELLA 434Mhz (like the one in the ebay key similar to one I have). The problem is I could not find a new remote like the one I have, only a used one and I would like to get a new one in order to be sure it is not deffective like the one I have (sticking buttons might represent itself on a used remote).

Should the XXX 959 753 DA remote fob work?
