Steering Angle Sensor Supplier

Featured Replies

I have an early Fabia 1400cc and probably need a new Steering Angle Sensor. Skoda are quoting £115 (strewth !!!!!!!!!!). I have shopped around and can find no alternative suppliers. Are there alternative suppliers out there ??? any contact details much appreciated.

As a general query, is it possible to test the sensor, or the electric steering pump to see which, if either, are faulty.

Thanks.

Be careful, as there are two types: one with a long flylead, and one with an adaptor and a separate cable. TPS should be able to get one for you as they supply the VAG dealer network. I'd normally recommend an independent factor, but none of the ones I can think of have any in stock. The usual symptom of sensor failure is intermittent heavy steering, and headlights FLICKERING as you drive. Heavy steering and headlights DIMMING as you manoeuvre at low speeds is usually as sign of a dying battery, however. I couldn't tell you what would happen if your PAS pump failed, in terms of symptoms - generally heavy steering, I suppose!

If in doubt, a fault code scan would probably be your best bet.

Thanks for the response.

I was on the point of ordering the sensor and bracing myself for a new pump as well, but thought I would check the fuses. All fuses intact but I thought I would extract/replace to be on the safe side and this has cleared the problem - must have been a dry joint on one of the fuses.

You can't help but wonder how many other elec problems are related to dry joints in the fuse box !!!!!!!!!!

Are you sure £115 isn't fully fitted? Sure I paid £60 odd on Ebay when mine needed replacing.

Heavy is an understatement! Mine leaked dry, and left me with no power steering. You'll easily notice it when it's gone. Turning the wheel when stationary needs both arms and lots of force. Becomes amazingly heavy to the point I got stuck on mini roundabouts and almost hit bigger ones (the first town I encountered, broke on an A road) as it becomes impossible to turn it quickly.

Anyway, glad the OP got it sorted, wish everything in life was that easy to fix.

Depends if you're old enough to have ever driven a car without power steering! :p

Which I'm not!:p
