Real world difference between Remap Vs Stage 2 230bhp

Featured Replies

Just wanting peoples views, is the difference between a jabba custom remapped VRS with clutch and SMF running say 175bhp & 310 lb/ft, and a Stage 2 fabia running 225bhp and 380 lb/ft really that noticeable and is it worth the extra £2000+ to get there?

id say not tbh but thats my opinoin

£40 per HP at this level of HP isn't really worth it...

Torque wise, perhaps you can justify it a littlle more, but not really.

can you justify spending 7k getting to 270bhp ? all down to personal preferences/circumstances...

and you wont get 225bhp for 2k.

But then is it worth another £6k or so to try and reach 300? :D I say yes (or at least I will when I get my car back ;))

I respect the purity of your thought, and I will look on in admiration when you publish the dyno figures, and I'll commiserate when you lose a fortune on it :)

The fortune is already lost - It's all about getting that back in B)B)B)B) factor over the next 3 to 4 years

Err remap...

0-60mph = 6.5ish seconds

1/4 = 14.73ish seconds

0-100mph = 16ish seconds

Hybrid...

0-60mph = 5.0ish seconds

1/4 = 13.53ish seconds

0-100mph = 13.2ish seconds

Is it worth it? To whom?

Is this worth 65 million?

Its a question that cant be answered as everyones answer will be different. To Jas, its worth it, to me its worth it, to others on here it isnt.

I would go for it if i had the cash. you would have to make sure everythin else is inplace first though, eg suspension brakes etc. i have a remap and clutch, got 340 ft/lb torque and it spins in 3rd in the wet!

If I really really wanted to, I could do that all the way in 4th, with a diff (so both wheels actually spinning rather than just one!) But thats just silly...

Not heard of throttle control? emoticon-0110-tongueout.gif

I say its worth it if you want something personal and a bit lairy emoticon-0105-wink.gif There are of course cheaper ways of going faster, even in a derv :p

Quite right. If speed is all you're after, an old Evo or Impreza would probably be a far cheaper and easier way to go about it. But that's missing the point for some people! ;)

I would say it is without a doubt worth it, problem is once you start with bigger power its hard to stop aiming for more :( lol

I'm sitting at 227 bhp but once i get my turbo rehaulled I'm going to aim for power with some nozzles and another remap...

Jase whats your plans or whats getting done to achieve 300bhp? apologies if you have already posted i'll do a wee search now :)

Exactly, plenty of other machines that are bred for the power, and then hike it. Anyone who thinks a fwd hatchback diesel is a good base for a performance car is just plain silly. Which would be me.

T.spark u legend lmao

and me!

I have a blog running with my updates, but nothing much gone on yet. My manifold and new cam is in the post though so serious updates next weekend. :D

Honestly tho, I mean your not right in the head are you if you have a track/drag car made from a FWD heavy hatchback diesel and then drive to work in a RWD mid-engined 2 seater? :D

Re-match on the saturday rwyb before fast show mate?

When someone comes along in a very thirsty r32 or s3 (that's worth well over 20k) and they think that they are going to show the little diesel skoda (worth 5k) with it's jumped up vRS badge what a proper 'hot hatch' is like ..............

The look on their face is worth every penny when you show them that your little Furby's performance is as good if not better than their 'super hatch'

I very rarely bother with the likes of a R32 now-a-days, is that bad of me? :D

If I see a M badge on the back of a 3 series, then its worth my time however :)

i cant wait to have ago against these supercars..

i know a few lads that have spent £K on there cars when like ours they are only worth a few £K i cant realy see the point if i had a ton of cash to throw at a car to make it quicker i would much rather buy a faster car to start with and tune that BUT saying that i can see why people do it and i have respect for there efforts when done right at the end of the day its your money to do with as you wish when i had my vectra 2.5 V6 Gsi i came accross an old Tigra now the vectra wasnt slow by any means but this tigra KICKED MY ARSE so much so i lost sight of it within secounds :o only later did i find out what it was via vxronline when i posted about it and someone said is it this

My link

road legal monster lots of respect but how much money has he had to put into that car to get that sort of performance 10x what its probabley worth? but not much is going to beat him that is a real sleeper

I think for some of us, its not acase of throwing a load of cash at the car. Well for me I generally upgrade when something brakes or needs replacing, the only thing I got for no 'need' was the suspension really. The rest, brakes, turbo, diff, clutch, was all because I might aswell have done it at the time. I know there are a few that just throw money at it all at once, but I prefer to step up bit by bit.

makes more sense doing it that way to be honist i would/will be doing the same as and when things go but not realy before hand and then only to a sensible level well thats what i will tell our lass anyway :giggle:

Ive got past that stage as I think she noticed when the dash came out :D

Ive spoke to specky once or twice down at pod myself, at the time he was running faster without n2o! Awesome machine I have to agree.

what motors in it? presuming a vaux 2.0 16v turbo?
