Drivers window switch dual switch inoperative

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I wonder if anyone could help me, on the drivers window the first switch position doesn't work, ie I can only select the window fully up or fully down and not select the window to other positions. Is this a problem with the switch and if so can it be repaird or does it need replacing?

Any help that anyone can give me would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

The switch can be removed by prising out the trim, and taken apart. It works on the same principle as TV remote controls, ie there is a set of contacts on a printed circuit board which are shorted out when you press the switch. You may be able to clean up the circuit board, but in my case I had to VERY carefully rub an emery board across the rubber pad that contacts the circuit board. I used one of those things that SWMBO uses to file her nails. The surface of the pad had somehow become ridged and wasn't contacting the board contacts properly. Be very gentle with it, there isn't much rubber pad to play with, but even if you **** it up I don't think new switches cost a lot.

I believe you need to reset it (as per the manual) something like take window to the down position holding the switch down for a further ten seconds, then up to top position and holding the switch for ten seconds

Before you take anything apart
