web hosting

Featured Replies

I'm looking at setting up a fairly simple website in the near future and wanted any recommendations for a hosting company. The key thing is going to be good support / customer service and reasonable cost.

I'm not after anything fancy, probably just shared hosting with php and mysql.

I use pac web hosting (small, uk based provider, never let me down yet and always helped me out within under an hour.)

http://www.pacwebhosting.com/pacweb/aff.php?aff=038 <-- with my affiliate link (so I'll get some cash off you, if you sign up, does not change anything for you.)

Other ones to check out:

http://www.asmallorange.com/

http://www.lcn.com/

Stay away from:

1&1 hosting.

I use QIQ for my parents website, been pretty happy with them, def worth a look... only £19.99 a year too (for the premium package)

Could also be worth looking at a linode (they have a datacentre in London now), they are $19.99 per month, but you can do alot more with it. You will need some *nix experience though...

You get free web space with your service provider. Enough to host a simple web site.

For very cheap, but decent shared php + mysql hosting, with decent .htaccess, you can't beat 34sp.com imo.

Sitehq.co.uk get my vote.

Used them since 2004. Never let me down.

http://ariotek.co.uk/ Couple of very good friends of mine own this company, mention me to get laughed at when asking for discount :D:rofl:
