Can anyone tell me as I find the Octavia brochue confusing does the new VRS come with maxi dot as standard?

Also is the MDI with ipod lead good and what can you control on your ipod via the stereo please?

According to the brochure, the VRS does not come with maxidot as standard, however it would appear that the following is true

Manual VRS Maxidot is an extra

DSG VRS comes with Maxidot

Search the forums as there is someone who contacted Skoda UK and got this info.

I don't have the MDI and have seen conflicting information about how good the iPod control is through the stereo on the forums...

Cheers thanks for your help, in my current VRS 08 plate there was no option to electronically fold the wing mirrors in d you know if the new version has elec folding mirrors?

I have the Bolero head unit with the iPod MDI interface on my Elegance. It works really well. When you select the Media option you have two choices, SD or Media. Selecting Media gives you access to the iPod. Initially it goes to a list of songs on the iPod but you can browse by Playlist, Artist, Album and Podcast as well. The browsing and track selection has to be done on the touch display on the head unit. Once you've chosen what you want to play, you can view the track details on the maxi dot if you have one and skip tracks using the steering wheel buttons, again if fitted. The iPod is automatically set to repeat mode so if you chose to play an album it will auto repeat, just like playing a CD. Since getting my car at the start of December I have yet to put a CD in the head unit, using the iPod 85% of the time, the SD card 10% (for my daughter's nursery rhymes) and the radio 5%. It was definitely worth the £150 for the MDI and cable.

would have to pay extra for the maxidot as it is an option. I am interested to note your reply that it

is standard on the DSG an would be interested in knowing which department at Skoda you contacted

as I have had no reply to a query I raised about having electrically retracting wing mirrors fitted. Thanks

AND

I have sat in the car and can confirm Maxidot IS standard.

Get your money back!!

Maxidot is Standard in the DSG because it has to be for the gear change display.

The White LCD display that is standard on manual vRS' is the same as the old style green lit computer that used to be standard. it was just updated to look more like Maxidot

That might be the case in the facelift, but not necessarily in the pre-facelift - I'm testament to that :'(
