Headlight question

Featured Replies

On a 2.0 VRS TFSI with projector lights. Is it normal for the drivers side light to be pointed towards the ground, as the beam is a lot lower than the passenger side beam?

Cheers Matt

I have the same model car as you and my beams do this as well. I think they are set this way to avoid dazzling on coming drivers.

regards,

Mike

Mine are set the same, but I xenons...

Thank you for your replies. I wasnt sure if it was set right or had a faulty height adjustment motor.

I have just changed all the headlight bulbs with Philips bluevision and the difference from the normal bulb is noticable. Its a very crisp white light. Thats what made me notice the heights were different. I checked and double checked the bulb and headlight placement and all is fine. I will just have to get used to it or see if there is anyway to adjust them. I couldnot see an adjustment screw for the dips. I presume they are altered through the use of vag com etc.

That's how I first noticed mine, I changed all my bulbs for Philips Xtreme Power bulbs as the standard bulbs are pony when driving on dark, damp essex back roads.

I've just changed my bulbs for Philips +50% (the factory fit ones are pretty cr@p aren't they), and now I notice that my drivers side is slightly higher than the nearside. I assume they should be level, and was going to tweak the drivers side down this weekend.

Sorry I forgot to add they are adjustable with the white hex plastic screws on the backof the headlamp units. There are 2 for the dipped beam - one adjusts up and down and one side to side. I asked this on another thread and some helpful chap enlightened me. Plan to have a look this weekend.

I saw the hex adjuster near to the main beam. This seemingly only moved the main beam up and down and not the dipped beam. The dipped beam stayed static.
