Regrets.......I've Had a Few..

Featured Replies

Isn't it always the case you look back over the options and wish you'd specced something in particular. Trouble is at the the time you are trying to be sensible and decide what you really do and don't need..... :wonder:

Wish I'd specified bluetooth!! Anyway - too late now!

Does anyone have a Parrot system (or similar) installed....are they hard wired? Would prefer not to use the power outlet, do I need to have it fitted by someone who knows what they are doing? Are they any good? If they are fitted - does the interior trim get removed and re-fitted? Do the dealers fit them?

Any help would be appreciated.... B)

Just retro-fit the Bluetooth kit if you wish you had ordered it.

I have got the Parrot MKi9200 hard wired into my car which sits above the hazzard light button. The unit is always removable from the car as it sits on a USB type connector.

My link

Upgrading it is a simple process via a PC and although I had a few issues with it originally, wiring problem, Parrot have been very good in their after service so no regrets.

Not being techinally minded I had it fitted for me by Halfords who 'apparently' aren't the best in the world to be honest BUT I got free fitting and there was also a promotion discount as well at the time so well below the RRP.

In addition to it being used for telephone calls I also play all my music through it on an SD card but there is also a connection, in the glove box, for a USB MP3 and Ipod to connect to it.

Thanks both.

Is it possible to retro-fit the factory fitted option?? Didn't realise thats was possible - will check with dealer

With the parrot system - do you leave the unit in view / attached when away from the car? Or is it like sat-nav, the thing can be easily stolen??

Depending on how long ago you ordered you may be able to amend your order to have the Bluetooth kit fitted. If they haven't actually started building it yet you should be able to.

Many dealers wont have a clue, It can be done though. Try Ben@Sharkperformance for a quote if you aren't technically minded.

No the unit is fully removable from the car and comes in a little carry case and easily fits into your pocket.

I too have the 9200 Parrot - and it works very weel. The location of the screen, which is hardwired to a box, hidden somewhere under the Dash, is slightly below the hazard button.

The operation panel is bluetooth to the box, no wires. I stuck it with double sided tape on one of the spare places for buttons under the Columbus. It is right in front of the gearknob when in 6th, but not so close that you hit it. You can operate the large knob by feel and get voice feedback from the car speakers. Other than muting the radio and shutting up when you get voice driving instructions, it does not integrate with the Columbus.

The mike is glued to the black spotted area on the windscreen above the mirror, and provides a very good sound to the caller.

The Parrot was cheaper than the bluetooth from Skoda and works with more phones with no difficulties. Part of the price problem in DK is the tax.

I would have preferred not to ahve another piece of kit, but I am happy with it.

I use the Avantalk BTCK20 and find it quite satisfactory. No wiring in, just charge up and clip on.
