Snow chains on lowered vRS?

Featured Replies

I've got some "sport" (ie 9mm) chains that don't wrap round the back of the wheel, so are fine on standard suspension clearance. Does anyone know if there will still be enough clearance for these slim chains with the ~20mm lower Eibach springs (or similar)?

Are these spikes spider sports or actual chains?

There are Maggi Trak Sport Click here

very much like the spikes spider

As long as you have enough clearance to run them on the top face and between the arch, plus the car's geo is set up fine following the drop I can't see an obvious problem.

Personally I'd be asking the manufacturer though.

The trouble is Skoda state a no fit for chains on the vRS anyway. I've spoken to manufacturers before (but not skoda), and they just don't understand the better chains like I've got so just cover their @rses by saying no.

I suspect there would be room for the chains with a lowering spring, but it's obviously a bit of a gamble. I need the chains to fit more than I need the lowering springs!

Alternative option would be Snow Socks - I have a set for my VRS in the boot "just in case" and they are a doddle to fit. No clearance issues and no risk of damage.

Just a thought.....
