1st post so please be gentle.

My heater blower doesn't work at all, have replaced the fuse but still not working. How do I access the fan motor to remove it. I have a 1998 Octavia 1.8 petrol estate.

Buy the Haynes; this is a pretty involved (lots of person hours) job.

Also, which ventilation system do you have, plain heater, heater plus air con, or Climatronic climate control? If it's not Climatronic, the failure could be in the blower switch in the cabin, rather than the motor in the mixer box.

I have the heater plus air con - I will buy the Haynes manual - many thanks.

It's about a 30 minute job, remove the glovebox and it's all nice and accessible behind it.

Ah; Haynes write it up as a dash-board out job. If you don't have to do that, it's way easier than I thought, but I'd still check the switch first.

if its the same sort of set up as our old passat its glove box out pretty easy tbh take the motor out and either replace the bushes or just turn then round and it will be working fine again.
