How much can I expect from a Skoda dealer?

Featured Replies

I'm looking at trading in the wifes Vectra tomorrow for an Octavia VRS. Its currently up for £10495 which is around £500 over my budget. What also isn't helping is over email they have only offered £6000 for my wifes car which is £500 less than I have been offered by other garages for cars they are selling for only £10k.

Obviously I am a little off the money I want to spend at the moment so I wanted to see from peoples experience with the Skoda dealers how much I could expect them to move if I was to go and see it tomorrow.

Any advice would be great, want to add the Octavia VRS to the Fabia VRS on the drive. Otherwise it will probably be the Mondeo ST TDCI joining the Fabia.

Ask him for some "help" with the price, but stick to your guns. Maybe try and push for £700 off the list price and go from there. If he won't budge at all, leave your number with him and walk.

Bloody someone going to view it now, so got to wait as they have first refusal. I think I'm gonna miss out again.

There's always next time, get on trader and keep looking. All the best

of course that maybe one of them sales bluff to get you to be greatful that its not been sold so you pay full price. Like thats not been done........................infact I've done that myself when selling a car :giggle:

Best looking at it this way if it goes then it wasn't meant to be.............always another one out there!

Looks like I may have missed it anyway. Just called them and they have someone on the way to view who has first refusal. I doubt when they call it will still be for sale.

Oh that old trick! Nar, just turn up. If its a garage, I never phone ahead, just turn up, prolly just sitting there!

The people he was on about never turned up. So we went along, was very annouyed to get there and find that he was never going to budge on the price, not one bit. He could have told me on the phone before I drove an hour with my 9 week old son and 2 year old daughter.

Could you sell the Vectra privately for more and borrow a car in between?

Because they never existed, in short, the dealer has already lied to you and you haven't bought the car yet.

Take a look on the Skoda Used car website, find some cars you like, call or email the dealers with the full details of your Vectra and what you want as a deal. Do that on as many cars as you see in your budget and the phone will start to ring, have no doubt.

Maybe you should only be looking at cars within your budget BEFORE any discount that way you will not be disappointed. I do not see how you can be annoyed with the dealer because he did not move on price. It is a game, play them at their own game never be desparate to buy a specific car for sale there will always be another one just around the corner. You should always have a little spare after your purchase to fix things.

When i buy a car i allways look in the last week off a month , they have targets. Most dealers are bull****ters 2 off my mates are in the motor trade. Never seem too keen he knew you were smitten , never show it . When the original yaris came out we went to view it at dealer in Bradford not a penny off new car, and bottom book for px . So walked away went to another said they were selling well so coud not give much off,,< no charge metalic, 12 months tax instead off 6 , mats ,full tank off fuel and £1500 more for px> so we signed there and then. Original dealer rang 4 days later to ask if we were still going to buy a yaris we said yes , we have bought one ,and told him the deal. THEY SAID WE COULD HAVE MATCHED IT .!! Bloody cheek they said not a penny off. Car really is worth waiting for ,give the impression you are undicided even about which car you want. All the best anyway
