Aircon recirc button stopped working

Featured Replies

I don't use it much, just when going past a landfill site on my way to work, but on Friday it wouldn't work. No light, no blocking out the delights of the pungent landfill. Doesn't work when you put it in reverse either :(

Any ideas on what's needed to fix it?

It happened to my car recently.

we tried to see if VagCom would fix it, but it was a case of the motor flap was broken. So it needed a brand new one.

Fortunatly my car has a 12month used car warrenty, so Skoda fixed it free of charge

Recirc flap motor OR faulty recirc switch.

I don't think it works that well anyway...

Maybe yours is broken too :giggle: Mine definitely helped past that landfill site

Thanks for the suggestions - I think a trip to the dealer is in order (and having double checked, it should still be under warranty)

On some cars the recirculation doesn't work if the air direction is set to the windscreen.

Yeah, I thought of that but it doesn't work in any setting so it's definitely broken

Ah! Where's the 'Thanks' button when you need it?

Car went into West End Garage today and it was the recirc flap motor that needed to be replaced. Sorted under warranty, all good now

Thanks for all your help and advice.

Thanks for posting the fix

For anyone out of warranty, this motor is located right in the top left corner of the dashboard, above/behind the glovebox. This is where the incoming air is capped off and it starts taking air from inside the car.

Forgot to add tools needed. Glovebox out, swear box, elastoplasts
