Just ordered new Company Car!

Featured Replies

I've decided to change my Company Car as the tax was cosing me £186 a month for my Mondeo 2.0TDCi Titanium X. I claim 11p a mile for the Diesel and this wouldn't cover the actual cost because the Mondeo is soo thirsty. I think the car was costing me around £200 a month which is not too bad I suppose for a brand new £26k car, no insurance, service or raod tax. I have however decided to change and I've ordered a new Toyota Prius T3.

You might all be laughing now but please let me explain.

The Prius is £60 a month car tax and will save me £120 a month from what I'm currently paying. I average 3000 miles a month and I can claim 14p a mile for the Prius. If I do exactly the same mpg in the Prius as the Mondeo (44mpg) then I will make and additional £90 a month in fuel. When I test drove a Prius last weekend, I was getting around 54mpg and based on this I will make £140 a month in fuel + £120 car tax = £260 a month better off!!!

In summary, I will be paid £80 a month to have a company car!!!

Yes the Prius isn't the best looking car, but the £3000 a year I will save will help towards funding my new 1098 Ducatti!!!!!

Must admit I am currenlty very tempted towards the vauxhall ampera when it launches. If I can could get to work on electric, recharge there for free and come hmw on electric at 70 mile per day I culd make £10.70 a day ish on mileage

I'm a taxman, and can confirm many people are doing this, the difference between how those two cars mentioned are taxed as company cars is huge......

Not too worried about the Toyota issues TBH. It will take 10 weeks to get the car and I'm sure any faults will have been resolved on the cars coming off the production line. The timing will be just right to have the car on a "10 plate" rather than a "59 plate"

Makes total sense, and being a company car you don't have to give a flying one about depreciation

Let me know when you get the Duke and I'll pop round and have a look (please) :)

I haven't told the wife that part yet!!! i'd be gutted to get rid of the CBR but I really fancy a black 1098. Probably have to comprimise to a GSXR-750 as I would still need some reliability and Dukes aren't famous for that!!!

Get out. You are no longer welcome.

I'd rather drive a.... diesel than drive a Prius.

Don't mind Babs - he doesn't like anything green

Except his ozone bashing VR6 of course :giggle:
