What uprated bulbs for Octy 4x4 03 plate?

Featured Replies

HI good people of Brisk!

been a while since i last posted up here. used to work for Skoda showroom until it was closed down. still with VAG just selling vans instead!

now down to business :) my Mum drives a Octy mark 1 elegance 1.8 20v turbo 4x4. and she really likes the look you get from uprated bulbs (shes a girl racer at heart lol!)

but some say you need H4 bulbs that do both high and low beams, is this correct?

and i know its practically a swear word over here, but any HID kit recommendations? before anyone starts, i know allot of people dont like them, but i have been using them in my own car for 2 years and passed MOTS and never been pulled over.

cheers all!

(BTW if anyone remembers me and my long term VX project, its now running a Saab turbo engine! well i couldnt have my mum having more BHP than me could i???)

Daffodils are nice at this time of year. lol

no one?

Yes thay are H and L in the 1 bulb.

I was looking at doing them on my car :-) but a good kit will set you back 100 or so and then you need to look and the cost of getting new bulbs if thay go.

Thay can cost a packet to replace.

So i just gone with nightbrackers :-)

+ could not get any shop to say 100% the H/L beam HD bulbs gave you the correct beam paten :-)

My Octy 4X4 has the Philips Bluevision H4 headlights (combined), Bluevision side lights and the Philips Silvervision indicators all round. All from powerbulbs.com (free sidelights).

I'm happy with them all. The Bluevision light is white, not blue, and is a great improvment on standard bulbs. Doesn't look like a boy racer either.

Another vote for http://www.powerbulbs.com/

They had a 2 for one sale on at the time I bought mine and threw in the free sidelights too. Came in at around £20 for 2 pairs of bulbs and 1 pair of sidelights delivered - that was 3 years ago and I've only just had to replace one of the bulbs so still have one left. I'm really impressed by the clear white light they give out..

Thats what I've got in mine too.

I've got Philips Extremes in my Octavia and SWMBOs Fabia as they seem to last longer than Osram NightBreakers.

Still looking for some OEM xenons for the Octy though....

I ran 130 / 100 Rally bulbs in my 52 plate 4x4 without any problems

OTOH there was someone last week with a Furbie reporting that 130s had melted the main beam bulbholders out of the reflectors after 30 minutes at NSL.

Ran then for around 60000 miles, I guess furbies use cheaper plastic :giggle::giggle:
