Dealer Advertising/Branding

Featured Replies

I wonder how many Yeti owners have removed the dealer provided advertising that comes "free " with the car.

On mine I had the Dealer details plastered large on the front/rear registration plates and on the tax disc holder. I don't recal getting a discount for being a Dealer advertisment!

I fixed this with a replacement set of plates and a Skoda tax disc.

Good news was that I didn't have any of those annoying stickers that rip when you try to peel then off the window/body work - for example on my Renualt it was the "Elf" sticker that refused to budge.

UK Law requires the dealers name on the plates or the plates manufactures name.

On my new superb purchased from Progress Skoda in Letchworth, I have the sticker in the back window, a tax disk holder with Progress on the outside and also number plate holders bearing the dealers name. The only thing I am going to change is the tax disk holder, the sticker and plate holders will stay. I dont mind advertising the dealer, after all they need all the business they can get in the current climate.

I've ordered my Yeti from Progress in Letchworth. I was SOOO impressed with the guys there - esp the sales manager Vic. I can HIGHLY recommend buying from them if you want @@ll**** free salesmen. Vic was honest, friendly and EXTREMELY helpful. Really, really nice family guy.

I must admit I am with you on this one. If I can peel it then off it comes. Maybe if they offered free mats or something similar I would keep them on but as they charge for everything then they will not get free adverts from me where I can do something about it.

I am sure if I thought the relevant dealer was the bees knees then I would be happy to leave the stickers on but I have never yet met a dealer that wowed me. I test drove a Yeti on Saturday morning and the dealer could not have been more disinterested. Maybe he missed out on the bacon buttie order by taking me out? Anyway, I will be getting a Yeti, 2.0 TDi, SE, 140bhp, 4WD, but not with my local dealer.

I hate the stickers that some dealers put on the car's paintwork, the ones in the window are a bit more tolerable - but even they come off unless i have had very good service from them.

I am all for giving free advertising when they genuinely care and go the extra mile to make sure you are happy, but like any retailer if you want my custom then i expect competitive pricing and good service, if the local dealer can't or wont offer that then i go elsewhere (i am 'lucky' that my local dealer does offer both).

It is the same within the diving industry, most divers say to support your LDS (Local Dive Shop) as many are going under, however my LDS overcharge by around 25% - 50% on EVERYTHING! so i shop elsewhere, which normally means online. I don't need my LDS for anything they supply, but i would choose to use them if they were competitive (this does not necessarily mean the cheapest).

I personally look forward to the poor retailers and dealers closing down, if you offer a poor service then you don't deserve to stay in business.

I go along with this. I have to put up with the dealer's name on the number plates and I tolerate the license holder until a new one comes as a freebe from the RAC, National Trust, local charity etc.etc. I will not put up with dealer's window stickers.

I should not be too harsh, my dealer, Pant Waen Garage, has been very good so far, so a "plug" on the forum will not go amiss!

Got to say I'm with Mannyo on this one, if the dealers good, let them have the advertising.

I went to 2 dealers in the Notts / Derby area and they were totally disinterested, I ended up going to Rainworth Skoda in Mansfield and what a difference. Nice people and dead straight forward to deal with.

Several friends and neighbours have had a good look around the Yeti and ar considering going for one and I have advised all of them not to bother going to the other dealers and just go to Rainworth.

Any dealers reading this, good service works!!

I have just picked mine up and the only sticker i will remove is the big one in my rear window. Number plate, tax disc etc will stay as it doesnt bother me to much

I only remove stickers if they are obscuring my vision and it's quite nice to see where cars have come from as reg. plates are not always licencing area specific.

This reminds me that I need to make sure the dealer doesn't put anything on the paint. Window stickers of a sensible size don't bother me, but the tacky badges and stickers on the boot do.

Agree, and mine was devoid of any extra decorations.

I always request "No dealer stickers" on the order form. Saves having to peel them off later.

Same here

I removed my 'Allams' sticker from the rear window but only because I found it obscured the view in the mirror. The tax disc holder is all theirs - I don't have a problem promoting an excellent dealer.

and tax disc holders only advertise to your passengers, not to the rest of the world.

Only if the passengers are on the bonnet - Allams have their name a round the tax disc when viewed from the outside.... emoticon-0136-giggle.gif
