can i re-aim the washer jets on my mk1 ocy vrs?

Featured Replies

good evening all. just wondering if it is possible to reaim the washer jets on mk1 vrs ocy, as mine spray all over the roof, the sides of the car, makes a right mess, and after spending all day cleaning and waxing it it slightly dis-heartning to see everything ruined. i have read that they are fixed spray being a "fan" arrangement, but was wondering if you can like re-aim the entire unit . . . .

also i have uploaded some photos of the beast from the past few months, and the boot which has taken me almost a year to sort . . . . totally been lazy so decided to finally finish it off.

got dear mama on the case with a nifty jacket for the sub, as i kno carpetting it 'properly' wud be a right mess. . . also the amp is on a custom mount which is behind the carpet and can be used for any amp, jus rescrew it thru the carpet, luggage 'gate' thing was removed from where amp is. tidied all the cables up nice, and gave her a vaccuum too. jus got to get 2 more speakers for the rear now and shes ready to go, untill i get a 5 channel amp and amp the rears along with the fronts and sub (which are runnin of this current amp) GOOD TIMES!!!! will be on a trip to wales shortly with my mate who has an 08 fiesta st500, and we gona get some mint photos and some video so watch this space!!!!!!!! also been attacking the plastic trim earlier with the peanut butter to remove last weeks wax that i carelessly got on it with the polisher. works a treat!! such a cheap way of removing dry wax and polish off trim. and it makes it look new aswell.

thanks in advance, and enjoy the pics,

Rob.

Nice shine!

body looks clean mate ... mine always comes up a treat for a 9 year old motor ...just like new infact

Jets are fixed to my knowledge. Maybe yours are a big gunked up hence the funny trajectories? Might be worth removing them and checking they are clean.

Car looks really nice, pretty awesome shine  .

Was as that with a power polisher?. Maybe time to invest in one methinks

If the scuttle is not sitting properly, the washers will not spray in the right direction.

yer its a cheapo halfords polisher. . . the huge one! tis ok for the roof and bonet but ima get somit a bit smaller for the doors. orbital polisher saves so much work. and so relaxing too! gona have the inside valeted soon, and im after some engine hoses, but i cant decide whether to have all 4 kits ( cooling, turbo, induction and ancillery ) in the same colour, or have different colours. I was thinkin the Britich Racing Green Samco ones. You think i should stay same colour throughout engine bay or have each kit in a different colour, like coolant in white, the turbo in green, etc etc.

if anyone has pics of their engine bay with said hoses on Id love to see exactly which hoses each kit comprises of.

also opinions valued on colour choices, am so bad when it comes to making decisions.

thanks for the nice comments, Im sure the guy I bought it off would be happy to know its washed every week and polished most weeks.

will give that washer jet thing a go, maybe stick some limescaler stuff in there or something,

ah right, the plastic bit below the windscreen? how would I check this is fitted correctly or is that a silly question lol. I havent touched it since i bought the car last march, and the washer thing never bothered me until recently when i noticed it wud ruin an entires days cleaning.

I guess I could buy some new jets from skoda to see if it is a worn out jet?

anyone any idea on the costing?

Fan jets are fixed, but it may be they have not been properly seated on the scuttle panel, so worth checking that. I have unclipped mine and removed them with removing the panel - just be careful the washer jet hoses don't vanish under.

I would not do any limescale treatment stuff when on the car - will probably ruin your polish, remove the jets and clean them in the kitchen, or somewhere warm and dry :-)

Not mine put I'm sure he won't mind. This engine bay belongs to Bowders1

nice, im guessing this bay has all the kits on?

out of the british racing green colour and white, which would you think would look better.

Out of those two definitely green.

I'm a big fan of blue:

Edit: Bowders doesn't have the coolant kit on :)

Been thinking about getting that one myself but I always think of something better to spend the money on :)

nice. . so im guessing people dont think white would look good? like maybe too bright or somethin?

the whole aim im goin for is to keep the car pretty much standard, but with extras put on that slightly improve it. so the hoses will last forever and a day being uprated ones, plus make the engine bay look a bit nicer, and in time the brakes will be changed for black, grooved and drilled ones. . .

the exhaust will be changed for something very similar to standard in time , not sure what for yet but hey.

oh, mentioning the brakes, are the rear calipers easy to strip down and re-condition? we've had to do a bodge on them, and the osr one keeps getting a bit stuck on, with the handbrake being a bit cack at times. . . or should i leave well alone and buy new and get a qualified person to fit. . . unlike the monkey who fitted the brakes last time and left all the rubber protective bits off, causing a seizure in the cold weather.!

Almost there apart from the inner wheels too ;) Nice job though, the black looks great.

cheers, the inside of the wheels are clean on them pics, jus doesnt show very well. . . is there an easy way of doing the inside, aside from removing the wheels everytime i clean ( which i aint gona do lol)

i aint a fan if black cars, but as they didnt make a blue on in this shape i had no choice. . . .

what ya reckon to the sub 'coat' hehe

New fan jet nozzles are only a few pence from the dealer, so maybe try them. I put new ones on mine last year when the spray went a bit wrong and sprayed the bonnet rather than the windscreen!

Very shiny car you have there

I think you can get black silicone hoses, which would match the bay walls and plastics.

Rob, no worries showing my pics...

I did not get the kit, I ended up buying hoses separately.

Thought about coolant ones but they are not really seen.

If you are deciding on white or green then go green. White will not stay white, and will look bad. Green probably not a good colour to keep clean either.

With regard to washer jets they are positionable, I have done this before. However due to the lime scale these get, it might not be easy to move them. I used a large needle .

I am going to do a conversion on mine to route washers to wiper arms like on the peugeots. I have pug 405 wiper nozzles to do this and have a go.

I started looking at fitting some heated washer jets, but have only just remembered I was going to do it - other Octy related issues to deal with first!

indeed, but i thought that having a colour might make it look a bit different, although on reading peoples views perhaps black ones might be a safer upgrade. wont really be able to tell theyve been changed that way.

and Bowders1, many thanks for informing me they can be positioned, i did try once but i dont think the needle was big enough. will jam something in there tomorrow. . .

black hoses it is then! but not for a while. . . got a bike i really need to fix and ride, get the old fitness levels up again.

i know its a bit off topic but its to do with my car, which this thread is so ima put the question out:

is there a double din, DAB digital radio for sale on the market. . . ive seen a discontinued kenwood one, but can not track down the DAB Box. . I currently have a blaupunkt nashville and it does a good job, 2 pre outs and sub, but im after something double din, with the same preouts and ipod connector etc etc. . .

i have searched the net for weeks looking for one, jus wondering if someone here works in a car audio place and gets advanced info on this kinda thing. not many DAB units for sale atm and its a shame bcos they r mint!!! perfect signal, and many cool channels. . .

thanks, rob.

The sub needs tidying for sure.

I use a 'bottle brush' on mine, its a brush about a foot long with a small 'toilet brush' type end, I got it from ebay, allows you to clean the inner wheel without taking them off.
