TCS light and CEL - Any Ideas?

I originally tagged onto the end of Sid's post last night when my TCS light came on on the way home, however this morning when I started the car the CEL came on too. Neither go out after stopping/starting the engine and the led on the ASR switch doesn't comne on when pressed.

I've checked the brake lights are working - I was involved in an accident a few weeks ago and just go the car back on Tuesday - the bumper, slam panel etc. was replaced and I'm going to find out if anything else was to help narrow down whether it's related.

I've ordered a vag-com cable off ebay to get the fault codes but it probably won't turn up for a while - any ideas in the meantime?
