What product is best for looking after my leather?

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I have a march '03 Octavia vRS. The leather part of the drivers seat next to the legs is starting to form cracks and some of the crack lines are going grey. Is this normal for leather upholsery? Surely there is a product to prevent this. Is it too late now that the cracks are forming? Help please!

Autoglym do a Leather Cleaner and a Leather Care Cream. I have used the latter on my Senator's seats and found it to be very good.

That's what I used in my Focus... does the job well. :)

I used to clean it every couple of weeks and apply the cream 2-3 times a year... ;)

I'm not joking but IKEA do a cheap kit for leather (and possibily suede) sofas that a lot of enthusiasts like to use as it's very good and cheap. It's known as Absorb, and comes in 2 kits,

thanks for that folks. I'll look into the Ikea stuff but in the meantime I'll get me some auto glym creme. steve.

The cracks in your leather is quite a normal reaction to natural wear and tear sadly. All the above will help slow down the ageing process...p'raps we should rub it on our faces too!

The grey you see in the cracks will be the natural colour of the hyde now showing through. They are no longer dip dyed generally speaking, just hung up, sprayed, cut and fitted.

I'm with Flyingscot - use the Absorb from IKEA
