Hello all ... and here's my first question

Featured Replies

Hi,

this is actually for my Dad who finally bit the bullet and bought an 2000/w Octavia Tdi estate last year. He loves it. BUT over the snowey months the boot stopped unlocking. I was wondering if there is something we've missed? He does not have a fob for remotely locking the car and hence has always ued the key in the drivers door to operate his central locking. I have tried the two keys he has but neither release the boot via the central locking or even at the boots lock itself.

All the other doors work fine.

The boots release handle just flaps as if its not engaged.

Am also wondering if there is a manual release hidden somewhere if we climbed into the boot from the passenger compartment?

Trying to avoid either the interior being damaged or the lock having to be drilled out.

Appreciate any advice?

Thanks

Hello & welcome!

Don't know if its any use but when I got my L&K estate, I had toi really squeeze the release to open the boot. I gently popped off the door inner & found that it's all adjustable, you can slacken off a coupla nuts & set the release flap to work at whatever pressure you want.

Hope that helps?

Thanks, I'm new to forums and although I searched nothing relevant came up. This was right on the money. Within 5 minutes, boot open, solenoid out and all's well. Just hope it can be bought separately as i've seen comments suggesting Skoda only sell it with the entire mech. We'll see! Thanks again.

Thanks for your quick response. Turned out to be the solenoid and once I'd found the manual release was able to remove the offending device. Thanks again.
