Play station repairs

Featured Replies

Can anyone recomend anywhere in Hampshire that can repair playstations, My son has the 60 gig but its stoped reading discs

Hmm can't recommend anywhere, but if it's out of warranty it shouldn't be that hard to repair himself if he is competent with a screwdriver.

I take it that he has had a go at cleaning the lens?

These seem like they could be useful:

With my technical skills :o , I think the hammer & cold chisel to get the top off may do more damage !!

Mmmm, Do you fancy you could do it in a week for some drinking tokens, I seem to remember I have a couple of visits planned

Has he been playing COD MW2 by any chance? Its known to be a drive killer and killed mine in Jan - Easy enough to do but you can post to me and I can do it for £80.

Shouldn't be a problem if you wanted to leave it with me when you drop the car down.. If he can wait that long?

done 6 Bluray laser repairs up to now, got it down to about 30 minutes,

from my investigations, just a new laser will be required, but its up to yourself, you can get a laser or the laser with drive unit

P/N KES 400A for just a laser or KEM 400AAA for the complete drive, they are available on Ebay, but the prices seem to have gone up about £5 in the last week from the UK sellers, Hong Kong sellers are cheaper but longer wait to get it

some people blame the Sony firmware updates, but some of these PS3s are now over 3 years old, and lasers won't last forever

When my PS3 popped its clogs I took it to a place called Hayling Internet on Hayling Island, Dont know if thats anywhere near you but it was the only place that did it near me.

I shouldnt be advertising them really as they didnt do much good for my PS3, they had it for nearly a week before deciding it was unrepairable, though they didnt charge me and the bloke was nice enough.

I ended up sending mine back to sony and paying £120 for a "re-manufactured" one.
