Windscreen wiper life

Featured Replies

Be interesting to know what sort of life you get from your wipers - I've got a feeling mine need replacing after 15000 miles....

Mine were on the car when I bought it, just under 4 years and just over 30_000 miles ago.

I change mine every 12 months or so, the salt duringing winter seem to affect the aero wipers quiet badly.

Nearly 3yr and 29k miles and still going strong. I'm surprised how well they've lasted.

Agree with the salt comment. Mine have just started to go quite hard and streak when cold.

I've got a new set waiting to go on, I've just got to get around to cleaning the screen properly to remove any grease etc before they go on.

I'm expecting a long life from mine. After all, it has this very expensive variable parking position system.;)

Iam on 3 years and 34K and the rubbers are going hard and smeary now after all this weather.Shall replace all when weather gets better.

On my second Octy now 5.5 years of ownership and yet to change a wiper blade. Changed the Car before I needed to change the wiper blades ;-)

I am on my third set which are getting a bit iffy now, the car is almost 3 years old and has covered 116,000 miles. I change them every 30k or so.

Have changed twice, car is on 32000 KM (or approx 22K miles...)

But we have snow, salt and a lot of rain.....

My experience with the aero-blades are that they are a lot less lasting than the traditional ones.

Mileage/age perhaps isn't the best measurement of wiper wear rates as people who drive in the constant cold/wet will wear them more quickly than someone who mainly drives in the warm/dry. On a side note the OE VW inserts are reasonably priced as well if cost is an issue for anyone, personally i've always got on better with Bosch Aerotwins so the first set I replace will not be OE. The only true measure is as soon as they don't do the job clean them (and the bottom of the screen), if they're still not much better after that replace them.
