Alright Folks.

Now, i'm hoping someone can shed some light on the two probs i have with my Octy RS.

First off the heater motor is squeakin like mad on the lower speed setting but fine on full speed, and the other problem is the car keeps dropping boost while driving. :confused: The only thing i can do is turn off the ignition and restart and it's fine again. I think i must reset the ECU, baffles me either way. Any ideas?

You may need a new fan unit to sort out the squeeking. There is a common problem with the turbo pipes on the Octy's. If there's anyone around with a Vag-com or you can get the dealers to read the error codes, you'll probably find the 17705 error. Do a search on this site for that code and you'll see what I mean. Check it is this code before you start replacing things though. If you find out what the code is, post it here and you'll find plenty of people willing to help.

Thanks for that. My mate at work has just bought vag-com so nows the time to test it out. We are in Ambleside in the Lake District if anyone else needs codes read if you live close.

wasnt there a thread on the NJ75 valve or something where boost was dropping off or limp mode being kicked in ?

My God, are we sharing the same car!! that is exactly the same 2 problems i m having with mine, sometimes I have to pull over onto the hard shoulder to turn off the motor and reset the whatever so that my boost comes back. My car is on a 51 plate, is yours the same?

Do a search on the codes once you get them, my money is on 17705 and 16806 IIRC.... is a boost leak somewhere... the code will say most likely DV, but to be honest could be anywhere in the system...

mine is an O2 plate. The car did this about six months ago and my dealer reset the codes and it was fine since then, until now

Damn it all, I also have the intermittent boost loss problem. Have to say I'm not as responsible as you lot though: on the (3? 4? 5?) times it's happened, I've restarted ("rebooted" on one occasion, when with techie friend who questioned what on Earth I was doing) without pulling over

Edit: I'm also a 51 plate.

Edit 2: The fan is easy enough to remove to have a quick look / WD40 whatever. Remove the glovebox and then it should be obvious.
