I have to drive an MPV for work, but I really like Skoda and keep waiting for them to bring out something my boss will let me have; which current car do you think would make the best platform for a Skoda MPV and why; and would you buy one!!

Include the engine(s) you think would suit any new MPV as well.

17 views and no votes, are you all too lazy or just dont care??

id say yeti because it looks more mpv ish than the others

I say Superb, and then not a normal MPV. Just give them 2 folding rear-facing seats, a la Merc E-Class.

Hmmm, well I would think the octavia might be out. How much more could that chassis sensibly handle in terms of bulk? So I would put my money on the Yeti. Suppose an mpv based on a Superb might end up being like a grand Scenic.

I'd say Superb...you'd get a quality MPV then :)

Apparently the Yeti is built on a shortened Octy chassis.

My thinking was; to use the Superb would mean a LOT of design work, whereas stretching a Yeti would probably be a lot easier.

Have a look at Skoda's secret MPV two articles here On that basis, I'd say Octavia.

Thanks for that link; it looks pretty smart, much better looking than the Touran; I wonder what happened??

IIRC the Superb/Passat platform is also an adapted version of the one used in the Octavia/Golf. Also all the hard work with regard to crash structures and mounting points is already intergrated in the platform/chassis, the major work being design and subtle adjustments to the crumple zones & safety cage to suit the lool of any new car. VW's use of this simplified (and cost effective) approach is one of the reasons there are over 20 cars using the same basic platform.
