Comparing Seat Leon 140 TDi Sport to PD VRs

Featured Replies

We've currently got an '06 Seat Leon 140bhp TDi sport. As our little one's getting towards 1 there's more stuff to be transported (bike trailer etc.) so we need a bigger boot.

My wife loves the Leon and is reluctant to get rid of it unles we can find a car with similar handling and performance.

Does anyone know how the PD VRs will compare to the Leon, is the extra size and weight noticeable or does the 30 extra bhp compensate for that?

thanks for any help

You will notice a much better engine

The vRS now comes with the CR (Common Rail) engine...

Much smoother and quieter

Build quality is much higher too!!

Hi Andy,

I have owned both, the Leon Sport lasted 12 months and was replaced by a VRS PD.

The Leon is a good looking car , even now. In all honesty though the Skoda is far far better ( I have just ordered my 3rd which hopefully speaks for itself ?)

The ride in the Seat was so poor (by some way the very worst I have ever experienced in 30 years plus !) that I am sure you will notice an improvement .

Loads more room, better quality etc etc...go for it.

Hi Andrew,

I had a 06 Seat Leon Sport TDi 140 - did about 13k miles in 6 months, and then got rid of it as I found it to be a great car, but the ride just a bit too hard for me. My son was 3 when I had mine and as it was my work car, he was rarely in it, but my tools did fill the boot!

I now have a Octavia vRS estate 170CR, and to be 110% honest, I wouldn't have the Leon over the Octavia as it is miles bigger, just as quick (if not quicker), and not as hard riding. My son loves riding in the Octavia as he has loads of room and it's easy to get all the stuff he needs and more (and he's now 6 which means more stuff!)

GO FOR IT B)

Thanks for the replies. If we do go down the vRS route it'll be the PD version as budget can't really stretch to a (nearly) brand new car.

Don't mind the ride in the Leon too much (as long as I'm not a passenger), the little one seems quite happy to be bumped around as well (the rougher the better!).

Interesting about the build quality - I know a lot of people have has problems with the Leon but ours seems well bolted together.

How does the vRS compare in the corners? The Leon is excellent through swoopy B road corners and we'd like something with good handling again

cheers
