Cant connect

Featured Replies

I'm having a little trouble getting my vag-com to connect to my car. I've installed the driver etc and managed to get the PC to detect the link (usb on COM4). When I try and scan the car it doesn't connect to any of the bits and pieces. My car is a 59 fabia. I assume I've just missed something as its the first time I've used the vag-com. Any pointers please?

Thanks

Is ignition on?

is it a non rosstech cable?

have you been into device manager and changed the comm port to match?

Aftermarket stereo fitted?, if it is then did you disconnect the K wire from the wiring loom or use the correct wiring adapter for VW cars. Leaving the K wire connected can cause all sorts of weird issues for diagnostics equipment.

Including damage to the diagnostic equip!

Hi all, thanks for the suggestions.

Yep, ignition is on. I've got an op-com so I'm vaguely familiar with these things.

I set the port on the VAG-COM software to where the lead was. Should I set the port to COM1 instead?

No aftermarket stuff on this car at all, its as it rolled out of the showroom (apart from the road filth, in it and over it!!)

I'm afraid the lead is a ten quid ebay special, not a proper one, are they dear? Might be worth the investment.

This is what I got:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/VAG-COM-USB-DIAGNOSTIC-CABLE-409-1-OBD2-II-LEAD-VAG-COM_W0QQitemZ330399696070QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment?hash=item4ced5b44c6

same lead I have got when you go into Vagcom n do the test that it asks for when it finds it remember what number .

then devise manager lark and then comm ports and select the same one and it should work
