I woulda had yellow if the missus wasn't dead against yellow motors!

Black was next choice as I've just had a silver car, but I got to thinking about the inevitable stonechips which woulda stuck out like a sore thumb.

But seeing the siler car on the drive I'm actually glad that's what I ended up with!

It's not a real RS untill you spray some Bug and Tar remover onto the front grilles and leave till untill it goes white.

I can remember when my speedo read 12 miles, it now reads 709 (first 600 are a killer, have enjoyed the last 100 a little bit more, but cant wait for 1000+ )

My speedo read 1 mile when I got it - now 4500 miles with a few stonechips already but you are right , they don't show up as much with a silver car - good choice !

On your new vrs, do the seats have the vrs badge imprint? The seats in the brochure dont show them while the vrs i test drove had them.

All the vRS' ive seen have the 'Motorsport' logo embossed on the seats , mine has it and its a 2001 Y.

And on the FOURTH day of ownership the car gets "personalised".

Battle scar 1 caused by the nasty transition from road to nursery driveway. What a lovely noise. I don't think.

A little perturbed by the lack of a "chin" rubbing strip...

Mine had 4 miles on the clock when I got it. Now showing 91,000 and more chips than McDonalds.

The fun never seems to go away, this is just about the first car I've had that I can't see me getting rid of as there is very little on the market to touch it.

I went out last night for a little run to speed along the running-in process. Even pootling along I have a grin like a cheshire cat!

Had my first boy racer run in, too. White Escort RS Turbo, a bit beat up looking, lowered, massive alloys and an exhaust I coulda stuck my fist up. I heard him before I saw him pull up to the lights alongside of me! The lights went green and I pulled away nice and sensibly, he did too - at first. I noticed he was checking out the wheels with a bit of a perplexed expression. He tried to egg me on then he floored it. Even if I wasn't running in I doubt (hope?) I wouldn't have bitten.

1 - I don't wanna turn into the hooligan I was 13 years ago in my Renault 5 GT Turbo (I scare myself to this day thinking about what I got up to in that car).

2 - I don't wanna be humiliated by a clapped out looking Ford that might well have 300 ponies under the bonnet!!
