yeah i know but we've been to our local dealers, vauxhall wanted 2.5k more for the astra, and the focus was 1.2k more, list price the astra is 4.5k more than the bmw, focus is 3k more on list price, ok you only get a base model 1 series but that has almost similar specification to a high spec astra/focus!

I'm surprised by that. I looked at 120d as a new car a few years ago and the kit that came with it (for a £19k car) was pitiful. I could get an Astra VXR or a fully loaded Ford Focus ST3 for that money, where the 120d had steel wheels and no air-con.
