Don't you wish the Fabia vRS had a bigger fuel tank?

Why carry all that extra weight around when you do not need it ?

Define need? Dont get me wrong, I am all about weight loss on the car ;) However on a uber long trip where you will be covering 500 miles+ then its all good.

If you popping to the shops and work and back which is all over 50 miles a week, then err yeah weirdo's!

Ive been using the expansion tank for the last year or so. I now only fill up every 2 to 3 weeks and I love it. I dont care if i'm carrying extra fuel coz i just hate filling up. Other cars of this size have larger tanks anyway. The clio has a 55litre tank and I believe the 306 has got a 60litre tank!

Steve, You'll still get the pump clicking off!

You'll also notice the noise as the air at the top of the tank is displaced with fuel.

It's an ascending whistle which suddenly stops as you reach full capacityemoticon-0105-wink.gif

Thanks guys - just wanted to double check ;)

Wasn't sure if the change would confuse the fuel station pump :)

And Len, I'd agree with you for most of the time, but it's of benefit on longer trips

Hi All,

I found this forum while searching Google for tank mods as I occasionally do very long trips and want to avoid stopping for diesel (as it's so expensive in the UK and continent !!).

I plan to use the tips in this thread for a trip I am doing later this month but PLEASE can I ask you to be really careful not to overfill your tanks as spilled diesel can be a killer for bikers. I have a 12" scar up my leg/groin area due to hitting armco after slipping on a patch of diesel about 18 months ago entering the M4 at J7...Nasty. Bike was a mess but luckily no serious harm done and crown jewels left intact (just).

Thanks fellers.

Cheers

Rick

More likely to have been a trucker. The roundabout at the junction off the A1 near me which has a service station heavily used by truckers perpetually stinks of diesel.

Blimey, the 'ventectomy' operation was an absolute doddle of a job to do. Less than 30 minutes start to finish including taking pix of every stage and cleaning all the muck and cobwebs out from behind the rubber seal.

Thanks for the tip lads!

You are probably right :( You'd think they'd be more careful - especially at over £1 a litre FFS!!
