And another spare wheel related question

Featured Replies

With the "normal" Yeti spare being restricted to 80kph/50mph why not go the whole hog and get a real skinny spare say from another VW Group car (even maybe another Skoda).

It would still be restricted to 80kph/50mph and you would have more space in the boot.

I find those skinny tyres quite scary. Wouldn't want to swerve in the wet with one of those on, even at modest speeds.

I thunk about it, but:

The new floor rest on pre-sized plastic boxes, allowing the "std" spare to fit and support the floor.

The boxes in the shape they are in are quite handy to stow alee the spare bits you want to carry - and modifying them wiuld be a bitch.

Saving another inch of height just ain't worth the bother.

I am a little more miffed that the soare is installed with the outside surface up, leaving a lot of useable space underneath, which would have been useable if the wheel was flipped over..

My philosophy for travelling long distance: Nothing is to be seen in the car when you park overnight. Hence only what you use overnight can be in the back seat or elsewhere, all the bulk must fit under the hatshelf. I took enough luggage for two for four weeks (with a washer in the apartment) including a bag with bedding in three soft bags, which almost flll the boot, but has enough room on top for a few suits on hangers.

Overnight bag in the back seat and computer bag on the passenger seat.

No problem.

If I woukd go camping, it will need roof box or carrier on trailer ball.

Hasta Luego.
