Options for Re-Map -

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

Sold my badass 1.6 Felicia estate (SLXi, hell yeah.) Just purchased a 2004 PD 140 Octavia. I am just looking around at the diff options for remapping that I have seen on the Forum - Shark,Blufin, Jabbasport, DervDoctor. I was just wondering what is the real diff between the systems that you plug in (blufin and system on offer from Shark) and going and getting a re-map. Most places seem to be charging around the £300 mark and I was also looking forward to hearing your stories (good or bad) on having your Octy mapped.

Will get some pics of the new car up soon, not that exciting really just a silver Octavia that drunk people will probably try and hail/ get into. Maybe I shall do something about that...

Cheers,

Craig

Definitely get it mapped, you won't believe the difference. All of the above mentioned seem like good options, everybody on here seems to rave about Shark.

i would do some research on the mappers some sell rubbish

i would look at places like

revo

jabba

r-tech

p.torque

these would all be top of my list been around along time and have sold thousands of maps.

Celtic tuning!!!

Theres remaps & remaps& generally you get what you pay for so have a budget but dont neccesarily pick the cheapest.

If you can stretch to it go for a custom map. Costs a bit more but the car will go on a rolling road & the map tweaked to suit your car & your requirements & it also checks that everything on the car is performing correctly

Westallc list is a good place to start but do a bit more rersearch if you can & also look at where they are, you need to be able to go back if its wrong. If you have travelled a few miles give it a good test drive before you head home & make sure you try gentle driving for smoothness as well as hoofing it

Ive always used Jabba & its a long trek from Hampshire but for me they do a good job & to be fair I had a lot more work done on my last Octy than just a remap although they did map the other diesel Octy at 8000 miles & its still not gone pop at 158000.

With a Diesel be careful of the torque achieved some can ring big figures out of the car but that will eat the clutch in no time. People who have been around for a long time know what can be achieved but also whats sensible

Its definately worth doing as you should get a car thats quicker, more responsive & when used sensibly better on fuel

I have a custom map from Jabba. The difference from standard is amazing -

BHP - 140 to 180.

Torque - 236 lb/ft to 340.

Cost circa £400 and well worth it.

Hey Guys

You may want to check our our forum section.

We are currently holding a Briskoda group buy. All our remaps include dyno power testing with logging to ensure the maximum is gained from your car.

Power on the 140PD is increased to approx 185hp and 290 - 300lbs/ft torque, more torque is possible but not recommended on the standard clutch

I am a skoda tech and i would advise you to speek to Ben (shark performance) his product seems to be very good both in results and price, ive got a revo on mine, only because shark performance was not doing remaps then or i would have given him a try. Well worth a phone call!!

I use no1 else but Shark Performance now. My A3 2.0TDI, my cousins also having his 1.8T engine rebuilt and map via Ben. He is the MAN!

FACT.

Ben is a good guy to deal with. I have known him for a while.

I have made tuned software for him in the past and I don't let just anyone use our software due to reputation.

I can vouch for the professionalism P-Torque who did an excellent job in remapping my Superb II, after an earlier trip to Jabbawocky resulted in a waste of fuel and a tiresome six hour round trip.

as a skoda tech should you be saying that as revo are linked with skoda??? lol

he is a good bloke but the 1.8t maps that have been posted on here of late do not show good map

no dig at ben as he is a nice bloke but the graphs do the talking on the 1.8t map emoticon-0149-no.gif

There's only you who seems to have a problem with the graph that Rob posted. I've had some trouble with a 1.8T this week but that's about it, everyone else has been 100% happy as far as I'm aware?

My cousin's 1.8T is gonna be stonking at 340bhp & 340ft-lb.....can't wait till thats doing the talking, its gonna be singing from the roof tops

Revo linked with Skoda :wonder: news to me and several others I would guess.

I for one am very happy with my remap from Sharkperformance and will have no problem recommending Ben to my friends emoticon-0148-yes.gif.

Would tend to agree, this thread is likely to go the way of many other which is best threads, could be a fun read over the next few days :giggle: .

Another  for Ben at Shark Performance. I also bought the STS unit, as it can be used with the next car that I buy and not just locked to the vehicle you are using, like the bluefin does. There are many good tuners out there and a lot of cowboys too. I will have no doubts as to who I will take my car back too when I want further map work done to it. Stage 2 perhaps? :notme:

Where in my post did i say skoda are linked with revo, thats news to me! lol.
