Featured Replies

Dear members,

The plastic latch handle of my Fabia's (2002) glove box compartment broke today when I tried to open the compartment pulling it , so I can not open the compartment any more. Please advise me how to open it and eventualy how to replace the door and/or its lock.Drilling a hole to press the lock inside the box or unscrewing and removing the board panel under the glove box? Is there aniy photo instruction how to disassemble the panel?

thanks a lot .

If you do a search, I repaired the catch on mine ,by splitting the door which is ultrasonically welded, realigning the linear drive links, and regluing the door.

Actually I fixed the compartment doing the following:

1. I cot a square hole in the plastic pocket(where the handle lays) ,big enough to move with a screwdriver the horizontal bar which is inside and which opens the latch i.e. the glove compartment.

2. To cover the hole when the compartment is closed,I sticked a small magnet next to it and I sticked a little iron plate on the rear side of the broken handle. When The compartment is closed ,the handle is set (using the magnetic force) inside its original place(pocket). If someone needs this idea, I can send him over digital photos of this "assembly".
