black or white ?

Featured Replies

Have finally narrowed my choice of 2.0 Elegance I will be ordering to either black or white with the creamy colour (forgotten what its called) leather. Black would look very nice with that colour leather, not sure of the white, but both cars look very nice from some of the pics I have seen on this forum.

Anybody got a view if they had to choose between the two ??

BLACK

That is all.

Imo I'd never ever buy another black car as its dirty a day after cleaning it! Having said that, I havent seen a black Yeti yet but could imagine it looking very nice (when clean!)

White looks superb imo.

Only thing is; I'd never contemplate the light interior with the white paint - I think it would clash and just look 'too much'.

I think the Yeti takes on a diferent character in black to almost all other colours because there is no contrast with the black trim, while the chrome contrasts heavily. It looks rather more imposing too. Have you seen one?

Personally iId go with white with a dark interior: easier to keep (looking) clean both inside and out then. The Gobi sand leather looks lovely but I'm not sure it'll go with a white exterior, so I suspect you want to decide if the Gobi is a must.

The comment about the white with the light interior is exactly my reservation, I agree it would be just too much, whereas the black would really suit the light interior I think.

Black winning so far !!

Hi,

Generally speaking they say a light interior then dark exterior or visa versa. If your intending to have the Gobi Sand then Black Magic I think would be best. Would get away with some of the lighter metallics and the Gobi but the 'Tibetan' Candy White is probably best with the black interior.

There is a colour matching chart in last years International Catalogue My link

Which TDI by the way and any options?

You're right, although had wondered why the black looked different and its because it loses the trim contrasts. The pictures of the black car are on this forum, think the car is in Norway but looks lovely.

The 140bhp elegance with the spare wheel, park assist, tyre pressure monitor, silver roof rails, mudflaps. Do I need much else ??

Well done folks, think thats made my mind up for the Black Magic box !!!

Black with silver roofrails providing extra highlights: that will look excellent I think.

I belive you can get some dealer fitted additional silver trim such as wing mirror covers btw.

Personally i would have gone for White with black leather and put the £400 towards the £850 panoramic roof. I would ensure you order the silver roof rails if you go for BLACK magic, otherwise with the tinted windows it looks a bit too black!

Black gets scratched and dity quick, plus sand leather shows the marks and the carpet gets grubby. Depends how long you keep your cars, but i know which one i'd rather own after 60,000 miles.

White would be my vote - having seen the Autocar review photos of a black Yeti which looked to me just like I'd imagine an animal hearse ought to look (especially the rear three-quarter view)!

Dammit just when I thought I had made my mind up I have to read some late converts for the white team !!

Think I need to see more pics of the white car before I can decide.

At risk of being a tad biased, I'd go for Tibetan White and Onyx leather. And I'd do the same next time....! emoticon-0105-wink.gif

In my opinion, the lighter paint colours contrast well with the black A/C/D pillars, black sills and windows etc. If you went for black paint then Gobi leather would be good but you would need silver rails and other highlights to make it a little less, er, black!

Edit to say there's a picure of a captive white one here (plus others are available on this very forum...):

there was picture of a 'dirty' white one, on the 'have you spooted one' thread - i liked it mucky! :giggle:

seriously, with the black tinted windows (on Elegance and SE) and panaromic sunroof (tinted black), plus all the other black highlights - the Yeti does look good in white.

I normally hate white cars, but after seeing pics of Aerofurbs one, and that mucky one. I'm converted to white - for the snow monster.

Just remember to park it in the shade and make sure that your climate control is in top condition! :sun:

There is a large population of SUV's here in southern Spain. They are mostly:

Black, scratched and sinister looking.

White and happy looking.

Some form of silver metallic and ordinary looking.

I am happy with my choice of white with dark interior.

I am another white vote on this one. Black is much more effort to maintain, shows the slightest scratches and helps turn the car into an oven in sunny weather. For some reason it is the only colour in which the Yeti has not impressed me with its appearance. I think it takes something away from the lines of the car. If I was paying extra for metallic and wanted a darkish then car it would be Storm Blue rather than black for me.

Aw eck now I will have to rethink the white one as it seems to be getting a lot of votes !

Trouble is I have only ever seen the one pic of a white one (in this thread) and its difficult to get a good look round it without the whole car, so if there are any Yeti owners of the white variety (not as in caucasian either !) then please feel free to post some pics for my benefit.

Thanks.

Have you tried looking on flickr.com because there are literally hundreds of Yeti pictures on there. I found it very useful when I was trying to decide.......
