Elegance Xenon's Update From My Dealer

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Just had a call from my local Skoda dealer. Telling me that they have now received a technical bulletin about the auto headlight issue on the Elegance.

My dealer is ordering to new headlight controllers. When they arrive, they will call my monster in for the repair. It takes about 2 hours.

On some of the early Elegance models, if the light switch is set to auto, or if the light switch is in the on position and the lights are ignited at the same time as the engine is started. It may cause a fault.

After driving a few hundred meters, the Maxidot displays a warning saying the off side dipped beam has failed.

Stop the car, switch off, start up again and the fault will be rectified.

Im presuming (...hopeing!) that something like this would be sorted at the factory for cars going through the build process now?!

I think It was "killy" who was the was the first to mention the fault on here. He spent a few weeks going backwards and forwards to his dealer. In the end they changed both his headlamp controlers.

I chose to wait out and let the dust settle as there were a few people suffering from this issue. I'm only gussing, but it looks to me like they have had a dodgy batch of controlers and now thy are on the case. I would guess that anything coming off the line now would be ok.

Yes It looks like they sorted out the production line before fitting new controlers to existing sales. They recalled all existing controlers before issuing new ones BECAUSE

They used the same part number for the updated controlers

There's nothing like good configuration control... and that's nothi.........

Only driven once in the dark - but the little dance they do on startup is quite amusing ! reminds me of marty feldman, for some reason...?
