Superb 2005 1.9 td clouds of blue smoke

Featured Replies

Cyl head (new bolts) 40, 60Nm then 90deg, then further 90deg. 4 stages of tightening in all:

10 4 2 6 8

7 5 1 3 9 Front of car at "10, 7" end.

Connecting rod bolts (new bolts)

30Nm, then 90 deg.

Best of luck, assemble this engine carefully and make sure you understand how the cambelt tensioner works.

Thanks for the info rotodiesel,

I have got new bolts for the connecting rod but I havnt got new bolts for the head, I will order new ones inthe morning.

Sam the engine must be 105 bhp it says 77kw max output on the logbook (BSV Engine)

Chris

Well, if it's not an easy fix maybe it's feasible to swap it for an AWX motor - with 130bhp (96kw?) . There must be some about at breakers...

Did you buy this car recently? did you buy it from a auction or private seller or from a garage? its not much use to you now as you have stripped it down but if its from a garage id of taken it back & got my money back! hope you get it fixed soon.

Well done.

Seconded - and I see it was pretty much a "worst case scenario" for a change. That said, it's always worth checking the cheap and easy stuff first.

Congrats on sorting this problem. Your hard work and detective work have paid off

Hi All

I have just bought myself a 2005 skoda superb 1.9td ,

The problem is when the car is ticking over theres clouds of blue smoke and the car seems to be missing,

If i take the car for a drive it dosnt smoke as bad for a while but if left ticking over the smoke reappears.

I have change air filter ,diesel filter , changed the oil and filter but it is still the same ,

I have pictures but i dont no have to attach them.

Many thanks

Chris
