Questions on Dension Gateway iPod Connection

Featured Replies

I've been wanting to get a ipod connection for my 2008 Fabia 3 for a while, and came across the Dension Gateway 100 in the skoda accesories brochure earlier today, after reading a few reviews on here I discovered the Gateway 300 was better so am looking to get one of those instead. But I had a few questions first...

How do you control the ipod, can it only be controlled by the Dance radio, or can the controls for the maxidot screen be used?

Also how easy is it to use?

And can I fit it myself or is it a dealer job?

Thanks

I have a Dension 300 for a pre FL Octy . It works with the Stream MP3 radio no problem and indicator stalk controls but not sure about the Dance HU

I would avoid the Dension it if you are looking to control the ipod using the vehicle controls and see the display on MaxiDot.

I bought a Canbus GW300 kit for my Octavia, it worked great for a week or two then vanished from the maxi-dot never to return.

I had it replaced and the new one worked great, but like the original, it only did so for the first week or two.

Big waste of money for me... Contacted Dension, to be told that a text display unit is not on their tried and tested "approved list".

Unfortunately I have to agree with swil00, I got a gateway 100 for my octy vrs and it appeared on maxidot for a couple of weeks then disappeared only to come back once and disappear again. I'm not that impressed with the dension support either as they don't reply to your ticket and just seem to ignore you. My only hope is that they produce some form of firmware upgrade to sort the problem.

Mine's been great, however and still works to this day, complete with maxidot display. Obviously some bad units out there but mine's fine.

If you want a Dension 300 GW with ipod cable, I have one for £99.

Another one to add to the list of people for whom the Dension Gateway (100 in my case) worked great with MaxiDot for a couple of weeks and the BANG ... all I am left with is 'Track 1' on the display, as if it is coming through the Aux input.

This happened after a brief stopm, to drop my son off at nursery this morning, which also sems to be a recuring theme on some other posts I have seen.

I have tried disconnecting the unit, to see if a 'reboot' has any effect, but so far no joy.

I'm really confused as to how this can be that it works fine for a bit and then just stops!

Anyone with any ideas?

Big Chaff

unfortunately I don't think there is gonna be a solution until they update the firmware and that seems unlikely to happen any time soon.
