It's time to change tyres again

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

After 1 year and 25K miles it's time to change all 4 tyres.

Last time I went for Falken FK452.

Falkens are good but these are high performance tyres and Superb is not that type of car(well at least not mine)

This time I'm looking comfort, quiet, economic tyres that would last long.

So here are my options:

VREDESTEIN ULTRAC CENTO

HANKOOK K105 VENTUS PRIME

KUMHO KH31 ECSTA HM

Is anyone using them or could recommend good tyres that similar price range?

thank you

If you got 25k out of them I'd stick with them, 25k on a wallowy car is excellent, I've managed to burn our Bridgestones in 8k before on mine, even the cheapies last longer, although the best is around 12k, but i am urban most of the time.

25K is very good indeed. I had some michelin pilot primacy on the front of mine as they are supposed to last a while, but I wrecked one of my alloys before I wore the tyres out. Did 10K and down to about 3.5mm tread on them. Had some wanlis (spelling) on the back. Did 22k on them and they were on the car when I bought it so god knows how many miles they did but the tread never seemed to go down ever!

Michelins were a lot quieter for road noise than cheap crap I had on previously.

Also probably not much cop for you, but my wifes Focus has hankooks on the front, they are pretty decent tyres in my opinion.

go for the Falkens again it,s a no brainer with the mileage you got out of them,, great tyres and great mileage for the money,, i use them and cant fault them..emoticon-0148-yes.gif

I've just swapped from Michelin Pilot Premacy -a nice quiet tyre I thought - to Kumho KH31, on account of them being half the price of Michelins. Only done less than 1500 miles so far, so can't report on the tyre wear. But as far as noise goes, they're just as quiet as the Michelin - so if they only last half as long I won't be too unhappy.

cheers

just ordered kumho ku31 225/45/17 Y (94 reinforced) and cheaper than standard 91 on the load index, 4 off fully fitted balanced etc £290 black circles. don't know how much your falkens are but the kumhos did well in the auto express tyre test last yr (same size) taking in consideration price etc, and they were the quietest tyre just don't know about wear yet

Thanks everyone.

I would go for falkens again but I find them a bit noisy.

Anyway I'll let you know what I'll go for.

Thanks everyone.

then get the Kumhos?

I just had 4x Nexen 225x45 R17's fitted today. Ordered them from Blackcircles at £270 for the four, fitted. I'm a motorway cruiser mainly and the last two sets of tyres have lasted me 27k and 24k miles. Not bad really.

Hello,

Before I bought my Superb, I used to own a Fiat Stilo Multiwagon, which was nice but very noisy, and it's worth mentioning that due to winter conditions we have quite rough asfalt in Finland. The last tyres that I used on the Stilo were Kumhos and the difference to the Bridgestones and Pirellis that I had on it before was just extraordinary. By far, the quietest tyre that I have had. And cheap, too. And it performed well in Finnish and German road tests.

Go with the Kumhos, they're quiet
